The mishap was at 3:20 a m. Sunday on SR 13. Leer was a passenger in an auto operated by Glen Swihart, 16, 357 North Walnut St.. Nappanee. Kosciusko County Police said Swihart s auto went out of control and went into the yard of Russell Christoffel, Pierceton There was SSO damage estimated to the yard and $4,500 to Swihart s 1979 auto Investigating the accident were Kosciusko County Patrolmen Jeffrey Bronsing and Richard Monk ’ and Pierceton Marshal Norman Clark Car fire is extinguished, damages at S 6OO Syracuse Fire Department responded to a car fire on Sunday, June 3, at 2:48 p.m.. on the Syracuse-Milford Road. On arrival, the engine compartment of the 1970 Volkswagen was completely engulfed in flames. The owner. Beth Burke, reported she was driving towards Syracuse when she smelled gas and heard popping noises. She pulled over and called the fire department. Firemen disconnected the battery after extinguishing the fire. Estimated damage was set at S6OO. "He who has no faith in others shall find no faith in them." Lao-tse

Shoemaker. 36. r 1 Leesburg, on Tuesday, May 29. at 7:40 a.m. The accident occurred on CR 450 N and 100E. four miles north of Warsaw. Miss Davis reported to police that she did not see the Shoemaker car due to the sun in her eyes. The Shoemaker car was stopped behind two other cars at the time of the incident. The Davis car damage estimate was set at $125 and S2OO to the Shoemaker vehicle. Don Merryman hosts annual swine competition Don (“the Dude ”> Merryman of r 1 Syracuse, was host to the 1979 annual swine competition. Merryman entertained 17 of his co-workers this past week end at his Lake Wawasee home. Among the activities were a rowing contest, tug-of-war and a foot race. Some of the men spent the night in the back seats of their cars. BICYCLE TAKEN Jeannie Roder, 200 Mill St., Syracuse, reported to Syracuse Police the theft of a blue Racer bicycle taken from her residence about two weeks ago. The report was received by police at 1:20 p.m. Wednesday, May 30. The bicycle is valued at SSO.

All such cards for the out-of district applicants will now be $7 a year. This means a year from date of registration. The third grade class from Milford Elementary School and teacher Anne Watts visited the children's room in the library on Thursday, May 10. Both kindergarten classes from Milford Elementary School also visited the children's room on Wednesday, May 23. They were accompanied by their teacher. IT ISN’T often that a couple becomes grandparents of two grandchildren within two days. This happened to Orvil (“Fritz”) and Clarice Kilmer of near Our. Town last week. On Monday. May 28, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Kilmer of Homestead. Fla., became the parents of a son. Christopher Glen. And, Mr. and Mrs. James (Elaine) Snyder of Goshen became the parents of a son. James Cory, on May 29. Mrs Snyder is the daugher of the Kilmers. - oTOMORROW is the wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Phil Beer and the birthday of Rhonda Rocket launch held by 4-H ers By HOPE SI PR ESS On Saturday. May 26, the 4-H Rocket Club led by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hedington had its second rocket launch. The launch was started with the pledges The pledge to the flag was led by Craig Miller and the 4-H pledge was led by Kevin Sheperd. Roll call was taken and the secretary’s report given The elections for new officers took place. New officers are: Richard Rhodes - president Kris Sipress - vice president HopeSipress — secretary Afterwards rockets were launched, the highest launch was by Rick Goshert who shot up 1.200 feet, and the next highest was Rick Ralston at 800 feet There were 19 members present and about seven or eight adults. The next launch will be June 9. Mrs. Dean Troup entertains May 31 Mrs. Dean Troup of Milford, entertained at her home Thursday. May 31. at 12 p.m. She served a buffet lunch. Mrs. Noble Fisher of Milford, gave a talk and showed pictures and articles from her recent trip to Cairo, Egypt. Those present were Mrs. Clell Matthews and Mrs. Raymond Custer, both of Leesburg; Mrs Evar Troup, Mrs. Bud Replogle. Mrs. Frank Radeke and Mrs. Alice Cone, all of Milford; and Mrs. Larry Smith of Goshen. Maring arrested Paul Allan Maring, 34, 725 Front St., Syracuse, was arrested by Syracuse Police for disorderly conduct and released on SSOO bond. He was taken to Kosciusko County Jail on Sunday evening, June 3.
