Area churches welcome all All through the Lakeland area crosses on churches point toward the sky as they welcome visitors to attend services on Sunday mornings, evenings and throughout the week. Summer residents in the Lakeland area will find a number of churches ready to welcome them with open doors. A number of summer residents already have church homes where they worship when they are in the area. Many of these people take an active part in the work of the churches here. If you don’t have a church home in this area, why not follow the crosses and find Christ or use the listing on this page to lead you to His flock. (■

New associate minister at Church of God
The North Webster Church of God recently acquired a new associate pastor, Henry McCrey, from Elks City. Okla. Pastor McCrey had been at Elks City church for the past four years and started his pastorship in North Webster on April 1. As associate pastor he is in charge of the music area, youth and the planning and conducting of the leadership part of the worship service on Sunday morning and evening. He is also trying to start or develop a singles ministry, which he feels is a big need in the community. He also helps the pastor with visitation and other pastorial duties. He is a 1972 graduate of the Church of God Gulf Coast Bible College, Houston, Texas. McCrey is originally from Waynoka, Okla. His first church was in Pryor, Okla., for two years. This is his first time in the state of Indiana. His major in school was music which has impressed him on how the music can be related to people in breaking down barriers and to help himself He believes music is away to grow spiritually along with away to focus on others besides yourself. Pastor McCrey is hoping to develop the brass ensemble into a full church orchestra. in which he participates by playing his trombone. McCrey has been married seven years to his wife, Terry. They have two boys, Danny, six; and Mike. five, plus a baby due in July. Outside of his church activities Pastor McCrey participates in sports. He stated his sports priority has changed since moving from Oklahoma to Indiana. His moving has made basketball the number one sport and has moved football to the number two position. Also in his backyard there is a trampoline which he works out on every day. McCrey commented on his feelings about the North Webster area by saying he really likes it, “W’estern Oklahoma is dry and flat land, here there is lots of water and trees.” He also stated that the people have accepted them and were surprised at the welcome because they had heard of northern people being stuck up and cold towards strangers. “We were pleased with the reception.''
