Jane Schultz to retire after 31 years with United Telephone
Mrs. Harry (Jane) Schultz. Milford, has spent the last 31 years . working for United Telephone in Milford and Syracuse. She will retire on June 1. Mrs. Schultz started working for the telephone company in 1936, shortly after she finished high school. Her first job was as a switchboard operator under Mrs. Larry (Elizabeth) Maloney and Mrs. John f Lillian) Koher in Cromwell At that time she was working in the summers as parttime help In 1948 she worked for the Milford Telephone Company with Mary Cline, telephone agent. From 1948-1963 she was the business office representative for Milford In 1955 the Milford telephone system went dial and eight years later the Milford office closed and she went to Syracuse. She has been at the Syracuse office as business office superintendent and business office administrator since 1963 The job she will be leaving includes duties ot overseeing the billing, service orders, handling all orders which came into the office and general management of the office Before starting at the telephone company full time she worked as

The director of the choir. Karjlyn Metcalf. 36 students and Richard Long, principal, made the trip to Warsaw, to present the program. There were 35 of the 53 residents of the Health Center able to attend the program. The musical numbers presented by the group were announced by Jay Lehman and Jeff Taylor. Songs in the program included “You Light Up My Life”. “Hello Dolly". "My Indiana" and "Candy Man.” During the singing of “Candy Man” the choir members passed out candy to the residents. The Lakeland Kiwanis Citizenship Committee assisted the Health Center and helped seat the reresidents for the program. Committee members making the trip with the fifth grade musicians were Howard McCain, chairman; Ralph Akers. George Davis. Devon Phelps. a waitress and factory worker but she always came back to the telephone business. A retirement party was given in her honor by the Nappanee 1 District employees at South Shore Golf Club on Friday. May 18. At this special event she was presented with gifts, flowers and cake.
From 51940 until 1957 the Schultzs lived with Harry’s parents, three miles east of Milford on a farm. In 1957 they moved into town and currently live at W7 Henry Street. Milford The couple has one son. John. Warsaw and three granddaughters. Joni, Jacqui and Angela Their daughter. Paula, died March 2.1979

Steven's Puppets at U. M. Church Highlight of the United Methodist Women’s motherdaughter party held recently in the North Webster elementary school cafeteria was a program by the Steven s Puppets. Tables were decorated with felt puppets that were presented to the children present Virginia Osburn served as master of ceremonies Greetings to the mothers were given by Charma Owens Devotions were read by Louise Weaver. Carrie Switzer and Susie Jennings were co-chairmen for the event. Committee members were: Agnes Douthitt. UftfW vice president; Helen Anderson. Barbara Hunt. Anna Boyer. Laurie Smith. Marie Horn. Jeannett Miller and Helen Cramer There were 160 persons present for the party and program Tonya Coquillard honored at reception Tonya Coquillard.
