running six nights a week. Also complicating opening Enchanted Hills is the fact Mrs. Zehr is expecting the couple’s second child in June. According to Zehr, the playhouse is available if someone wants to operate it, and is listed with a Syracuse Realtor and may be leased for the summer as an alternative. A short season may be tried at the Playhouse if no buyer or tenant can be found.

Fish: Ready for the taking
One of America’s favorite pasttimes, fishing, takes off sometime in mid-May and doesn’t land again until those cold winter winds start a biowin’, with the exception of those brave souls who enjoy ice fishing. “Fishing is really getting started,” commented Clem Lisor of the Sportsman Center, Syracuse. "Right now bass and crappies are the most sought after fish by fishermen,” added Lisor. But for non-bass lovers, there are many other mouth watering just waiting to be claimed. Bluegill, perch, catfish, pike and the battling walleye, to name a few, are in abundance at area lakes and most will
Find relief at the beach!
A bright, sunny day. Temperatures in the mid to upper 80s, high humidity and not the slightest existence of a breeze. Your whole body perspires and cries for relief. Where can it be found? Why at the beach, of course! Sun bathing, volleyball, swimming and picnics are all popular activities encountered on sandy beaches in the area. Waubee Lake Park and the Syracuse City Park are characterized by their clean-looking sandy waterfronts. At Waubee, some recreational facilities such as a merry-go-round and teeter-totters are available for children’s use. Restroom and beach house ac-

put up a good fight whether you’re a novice or an experienced angler. Many fisherman like the sport simply due to its relaxing nature, that is until the fish threatens to take “hook, line and sinker.” Others do it for the challenge, enjoying the aesthetic qualities of fishing. Still others only goal is to catch the most and the largest specie for special recognition, while another group catches these aquatic creatures for their unique and savory tastes. Whatever your reasons, as soon as the sun peeks over the horizon, grab the gear, the bait and anything else that suits your fancy, and go get ’em. Enjoy your summer fishing in the great outdoors.
comodations make the day s activities simpler. Also provided is a concession stand. Shaded picnic tables offer relief from the blazing solar rays at the Syracuse Park. As in Milford, swings and other recreational delights are close at hand for time not spent in the water. If these beaches are too full for comfort, other areas available for swimming purposes are at Hoy’s Landing on the east end of Henry Street, Syracuse or Waco Beach, Oakwood Park or the beach on Lake Wawasee near the fish hatchery So, if the heat’s too much, beat the heat at one of the various area beaches.
