Picnics are fun
What could be nicer than the familyspending time together outdoors now that the weather is so beautiful. And a picnic is a perfect way to have a meal and fun together. There are parks around and on the lakes that would make that place - a special one. Parks in the area equipped with picnic tables and facilities for just such an outing are on Waubee Lake, near Milford, Syracuse Lake, and Lakeview Spring Rest Park, near North Webster. There is also plenty of room to spread the blanket on the ground the old fashioned way. Many types of food have become the favorites of any picnic such as fried chicken, potato salad, baked beans, a variety of sandwiches and drinks such as lemonade and iced tea. Or to do something a little different with your meal.take a portable grill and serve the kids favorites, hot dogs and hamburgers. The adults might find that steaks on a

picnic are somewhat of a treat. The fisherman in your family will be proud to have his catch cooked out on an open fire as the main event of this occasion. Some foods are perishable and will need to be kept cool. Ice bests are the most popular way to keep food from spoiling. Empty milk containers can be filled with ice and frozen a day or two ahead of time and placed in the ice chest to keep it cool. Thermos bottles and wide mouth containers can be used for holding a variety of foods and drinks. Some will help in maintaining heat or cold. Remember to take all eating and cooking utensils, if you are using a grill, it will make things easier and safer. Charcoal, lighter fluid and matches will be needed to pack as well or that barbecue taste won’t happen. Go, enjoy yourself and the people you are with.
