Farmer-owned reserve wheat is released

WASHINGTON, MAY 16 - Wheat in the farmer-owned reserve was released for redemption, effective immediately, by Ray Fitzgerald, executive vice president of the Commodity Credit Corporation. Farmers may sell their reserve wheat after repaying their CCC price support loans. Release of the reserve does not require farmers to redeem or sell their grain at this time. Fitzgerald said the national average market price for wheat is $3.31 per bushel. The price level at which the commodity is released from the reserve is 140 per cent of the $2.35 national loan rate of $3.29 per bushel. More than 400 million bushels of wheat are in the reserve. Farmers with grain in the reserve receive storage payments annually in advance from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Upon repayment of the loan, farmers can keep the storage payments earned through the date of repayment. On June 30, the department will review the average price for wheat to determine if the release authorization should remain in Booked for theft of food stamps Robert L. Data used by CCC in determining the release level include five-day average prices as reported by the department’s Agricultural Marketing Service which show prices bid by buyers at selected markets and a monthend report of prices received by farmers issued by the department’s Economics, Statistics and Cooperative Service. This report shows the previous month's average price and the current mid-month price. Chicago, Portland, Kansas City and Minneapolis are the daily markets reviewed by CCC for wheat.
