Augsburger (center) spoke to the Wawasee Kiwanis Club at a recent meeting on the progress made by the General Assembly. Senator Augsburger's district covers a four-county area including Kosciusko, Steuben, Noble and LaGrange. In addition to attending the General Assembly, he serves on four committees which include natural resources and agriculture, roads and transportation, commerce and higher education. A major accomplishment of the General Assembly was the reenactment of the 1973 bill which gives property owners a 20 per cent credit on taxed, plus a credit for those people renting. A major disappointment was not completing a bill to provide permanent funding for highway and road repair. Senator Augsburger stated Hoosiers should be proud that they and the state of Arizona have had a surplus of funds while other states are running deficits. Most of Indiana's surplus last year was funneled into road maintenance. To the left of Senator Augsburger is Wawasee Kiwanian Officer Dan Gallmeier and member Clair Mohler is on the right.
