Four persons were injured and three were transported. Injured in the accident were Lenora Davis, 61, and Arthur E. Davis, 63, both of r 4 box 89 Syracuse; Judy Adkins. 26. and Chastity Adkins, five, both of Lot 10 Haviland Mobile Home Park Syracuse. Mrs. Davis had lower back pain while Mr. Davis had abdominal pain, they and Mrs. Adkins were transported to Goshen Hospital. Chastity Adkins was not transported. Earlier the ambulance was called to Bernice Klink’s at r 4 box 211, Syracuse, at 12:30 p.m. when the 59-year-old woman became weak and dizzy. She was transported to Goshen Hospital. On Thursday, May 3, Mike Hann, 13, r 2 Syracuse was taken to the station at 6:11 p.m. after cutting his knee. They were advised to take him to Goshen Hospital for possible stitches and a shot. Lois Tarrence, 63, r 4 lot 46 Turtle Bay, Syracuse, became ill at her home at 11:58 am., Friday, May 4. She was transported to Goshen Hospital. At 5:12 p.m. Monday, the ambulance responded to a call when Jim Wine, 30, r 3 box 7AA. Syracuse, was injured after his vehicle caught fire. He was treated at the scene. Nathan C. Insley, 87, r 3 box 113, Syracuse became ill at 5:48 p.m. and was taken to Goshen Hospital. Milford EMS On Tuesday, May 1, a 23 year old woman suffered chest pains and difficulty in breathing She was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital. A man working at Brock’s became weak, dizzy and suffered chest pains on Wednesday, May 2, and was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital. Friday, May 4, a woman involved in an auto accident on SR 15 and 1350 suffered a cut under her left eye. She was transported to Goshen Hospital emergency room. An 11-year-old girl suffered a possible seizure and near drowning at a pond near Milford on Saturday, May 5. She was transported to the Kosciusko Community Hospital emergency room. On Sunday, May 6, a Milford man was shot in the lower left leg. .He was transported to Goshen Hospital emergency room.

R ASH OF GRASS FIRES — Syracuse Fire Department has been busy recently answering calls pertaining to out of hand grass fires. The above picture shows a grass fire on Eli Lilly road, near the Wawasee’Airport on Monday. May 7. at 1:25 p.m. The fire chief reported it started from someone burning trash and flames igniting dead grass in the area and spread. Earlier that day. at 12:39 p.m., the fire department was calk'd to the rear of the disposal plant in Syracuse when the town was burning off the dump and piles of leaves caught fire. The department checked the fire and then returned to the station. Last Wednesday afternoon at 12: II p in.. May 2. a fire in the woods behind the home of Robert Knudsen, caused an estimated loss of $1,500.

Dr. Otto C. Stoelting Jan. 19, IX9O— May X, 1979 Dr. Otto C. Stoelting, 89, 306 S Lake, Syracuse, died Tuesday, May 8 at ’4:30 p.m. in Goshen Hospital. He was a retired dentist at Syracuse. He was born in Knox County on January 19, 1890. to William and Mary < Berkemeier > Stoelting. On June 5, 1913. he married Esther Horton She preceded him in death in 1974. A Syracuse resident most of his life, Stoetling. was a member of the Saint Andrew’s United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge 454. Sy rasuse/Order of the Eastern Star of Syracuse. Goshen Commandery 50 and Goshen Chapter 45. Scottish Rite at South Bend. He was a 1916 graduate of Indiana University Dental School. Survivors include one daughter. Mrs. Bill (Mary Louise) Bigler. Hamilton; three sons, Glen Lamar, Rockford. 111.. Karl and Jack of Syracuse; nine grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren; and one sister. Mrs Hilda Grabbe. tainview Place, Goshen. Death was due to complications He was born in Goshen on August 24, 1897. and’ was a resident at Lake Wawasee for the past seven years. On August 2, 1927, he married Agnes Hoovens. She preceded him in death on November 4,1976. Brooks was an attorney and musician. He graduated from the University of Michigan and was a church organist for several churches. Brooks was a member of the Indiana and Illinois Bar Associations. Also he held memberships in f Phi Kappa Sigma, Phi Alpha Deha, Goshen Masonic Lodge and the All Saints Episcopal Church, Lake Wawasee. He was a second lieutenant in World War I. Survivors include one son, Dr. Leonard J. Brooks 111, Syracuse; and three grandchildren. . Private graveside services were held at 1 p‘m. Thursday. Father David Hyndman pastor of the All Saints Episcopal Church officiated. Burial was in the McClintic cemetery near Syracuse. A memorial service was held at 10 a m. Tuesday at (he Church. Harris Funeral Home, Syracuse, was in charge of arrangements. Noble Stump Oct. 24, 1X97 — May 1. 1979 Noble B. Stump, 81", formerly of r 1 Goshen, died Tuesday, May 1. at 6:21 p.m., at Fountainview Place. Elkhart He had been a patient there since July 1975. He was the stepfather of W. J. Berkey of Milford. He was born October 24.J897, in Goshen, to Allen and Lucy (Mason) Stump. He retired from the Goshen Milk Division in 1962. He had also worked at Independent Protection Co. and Ball Band in Mishawaka.

Bristol; two brothers, Marvin and James Stump, both of Goshen. Officiating the service was Rev. Curtis Weddle Burial was Friday, May 4, at the Cornell cemetery, northeast of Goshen. He was treated at the scene by the Syracuse emergency medical technicians Wine was traveling south on SR 13 in an old Army truck when a can of lacquer caught fire at 5.10 p.m The can was sitting near a makeshift healer on the floor He jumped from the moving truck and was injured when he fell onto the pavement A North Webster man following Wine slopped as the truck headed off into a ditch.
