LOUISA’S 1 LETTER
Dear Louisa, 1 haven’t any problem that worries me particularly but I would like to pass along something that 1 do that might help other young couples. 1 am a man who has been married five years and we have a little son almost three. When I was a child, when bedtime came my mother bathed us at bedtime and got us to bed as quickly as possible so that she could see about dinner for father. Everything was done in such a hurry that we never got to talk about our little problems or worries and as father did not come home to lunch none of us knew him very well except as a judge to punish us if we had done something bad during the day. 1 decided when my son was born to have a better relationship with him than my father had with me so as soon as he was old enough I accepted it as my privilege to take over the bedtime hour. This is the way we work it out. My wife has him bathed when 1 come in at night. We eat our meal with him in his pajamas

and sitting in a high chair between us. After the meal, while my wife does the dishes my son and I sit in as easy chair and we talk about things that interest him or I read him a story. Then he goes to the bathroom, he says his prayers, and I tuck him in bed. He looks forward to being with daddy every night and I have also felt disappointed if anything happens to make me miss this opportunity. 1 think fathers miss a great deal when they leave the complete care of the children to the mother. This also makes the mother much happier and we are both in a better frame of mind whether we are staying home or leaving a baby sitter in charge. Dad-Mo. Answer: 1 think this letter speaks for itself and I am sure that you and your son will be very close to each other as the years pass. Louisa. Address letters: Louisa, Box 532.Orangeburg, S.C. 29115

Art association learns porcelain painting
What do you know about the art of painting on Porcelain? China Painting is one of the oldest known arts which was first introduced by the Chinese over 2.000 years ago. While there always have been a comparatively few china painters in America, it was almost a lost art in the United States for 30 or 40 years During the past 15 years there has been a renewed interest in painting on china. Ruth Williams will give a demonstration of painting on porcelain at the Lakeland Art Association’s monthly meeting on May 8 at 7:30 p m which is held in the Cardinal Center, Warsaw. While her subject for painting will be the Iris flower, she hopes to make it an informational type of program in which she will share the mediums and techniques used in this form of art. She was born in India, the daughter of missionary parents. She holds a master's degree from the University of Michigan and is a former elementary and high school teacher She and her husband moved from Michigan to North Carolina where they lived for the past eight years before moving to Grace Village in Winona Lake. While in North Carolina Mrs Williams was a charter member of the Hendersonville China Painters Club, a federated association of which she was the president the past two years She was also active in the state organization of china painters and last September planned and conducted the first North Carolina State China Painters seminar.
