Services being held at Outreach Chapel
A new church has been formed in Milford. Called the Milford Outreach Chapel, an interdenominational church, it is located in what formerly housed the Orn Nursing Home at the corner°of Main Street and the Syracuse-Milford Road. The church officially opened its doors on March 4 and the pastor is Luther Chalk, formerly with churches in Goshen and Benton. The church is a full service church and will help support the Milford Outreach Mission, also housed in the same building. Sunday services are. 10a .m. — Sunday school 11 a m. — worship service 7p.m. — evening services. With in the next month .Chalk said they hope to have mid-week services. Chalk also mentioned the church will eventually have community activities lor everyone and he hopes to try and meet with all of the area pastors The Mission Mr. and Mrs. Noble Swihart. administrators for the outreach center, stated “We want to be where the immediate need is. The Swiharts have made their home available as a shelter for youths on a short term or long term basis. . I— RW -
* al MRS. SWIHART \S RECEPTIONIST Their plans are to develop a home, hoping to have children, some for an indefinate time The center will be for emergencysituations. such as someone turning out their child in bad weather or other situations. Currently there are no children living with them besides their own children.
God's love can learn from our wildlife ne of the first lessons we all learn from the Bible and our Church or Sunday school is that God made heaven and earth and everything therein, including the living creatures; and there is no more dramatic proof of this than what you can learn from even a casual study of the animals and birds. You'll marvel at the way these creatures are equipped to feed and * protect themselves; particularly those which must be born with this knowledge, having no parents to care for them. As your Church will teach you, if God so loved even the smallest of these livings things, think how He must love’ - YOU; so avail yourself of His love, and treat our wildlife with all due respect and kindness.
The Swiharts are making the necessary changes in the home in preparation for when youth are referred to them Some of the changes they are making include setting up bedrooms, downstairs and upstairs; and painting and light remodeling of the interior. Swihart stated he eventually wants to put carpeting in various areas of the home. The couple worked with young people elsewhere before starting the center in Milford. Swihart has worked for the Faith Mission Alcoholic Center in Elkhart, not related to Faith Mission in North Webster and with the Navajo Indians in New Mexico through the Dunkard Brethren Church. Upon returning to the area from New Mexico the Swiharts brought with them two girls, one physically handicapp'd These girls stayed with them for two years before returning home Helping supervise the center will be Joe Adams, currently of Elkhart Adams will be living with the Swiharts eventually. Swihart and his wife, Vera, have t four children. Ross, 16; Seth. 13; Stephanie, 11; and Regina four Seth and Stephanie are attending Lakeland Schools Ross is attending North Wood High School until the end of the
