Good wipers fight hazards
Fog is a driving hazard—especially when a dense fog sweeps in while you are driving at expressway speeds. When this happens, get off the expressway as quickly as possible. You'll be safer from rear-end collisions on lesser roads. Better yet. don't drive. As soon as fog creeps over the road, turn on your windshield wipers. "Dense" fog is merely a fine accumulation of mist. Once the wipers are operating, you'll probably find the fog not as dense as

you first thought. If your wipers streak, squirt washer fluid on the windshield. This should wash away any oily accumulation. If streaking continues, replace wiper rubber refills at the nearest service station. Whenever fog rolls in. even in daytime, turn your headlights on low-beam. Without lights, you are invisible to anyone coming from behind at high speeds. Headlights also let drivers approaching from the opposite direction see you.
Buick introduces an all new Skylark
Buick is introducing the 1980 Skylark at area showrooms this week. The Skylark is unlike any Buick ever built before. It is a front-wheel-drive automobile with a transverse-mounted engine. The interior amenties and appointments are definitely
Buick. It has been designed to deliver a comfortable ride. It has been engineered with keen attention to noise isolation for quietness that's in the Buick tradition. The new Skylark is 19 inches shorter overall than its predecessor, its interior roominess is remarkably similar. Skylark’s crisply tailored appearance makes a clear statement about its capability as a piece of driving machinery. Its lines are crisp, sure and honest. There’s more than an echo of the genuine road car in the new Skylark. It has an uncomplicated look of competence. Inside this new vehicle is design wizardry with generous leg room, hip room and head room. With front-wheel drive the wheels that do the steering also do the driving. In addition, the engine weight is over the driving wheels. This combination of qualities results in a car that has impressive traction capability in snow or wet conditions. Skylark’s businesslike maneuvering manners are further aided and abetted by a rack-and-pinion steering arrangement and its new front and rear suspension. As for power, there is the standard 2.5 litre, four-cylinder engine and a 2.8 litre V-6 is available. The Ride The 1980 Skylark is dedicated to the proposition that a car should provide its passengers with an environment of ease and comfort.

Skylark’s ride is in the Buick tradition of smoothness. The chassis is completely new. Its principal features are a MacPherson strut front suspension and a rear suspension of trailingarm design, with track bar and stabilizer bar. The car handles irregular road surfaces with an aplomb expected in larger and heavier machines. Rallye ride-and-handling and firm ride-and-handling suspension packages are available for those who have special requirements. Skylark passengers not only enjoy the ambience, but also the comfort Buick owners expect. The five-passenger seating arrangement (two in front, three in rear) adds to the car’s feeling of spaciousness. There’s nothing cramped about it, even with a full complement of five passengers. Speaking of seating, a reclining front passenger seatback and or driver’s seatback are thoughtful options. The interior elegance is particularly pronounced with the Limited’s accoutrements. It is an automobile in which miles can be covered with ease and comfort. Anything You Want The Skylark can be anything the owner wants it to be. It can be a sumptuous coupe or sedan. It can be a luxurious automobile. The Limited model possesses the kind of thoughtful elegance that has made this nameplate highly prized by Buick owners for decades. There’s bountiful evidence of luxuries being treated as necessities.
