Three Syracuse residents injured in accident A total of $1,250 damage resulted Saturday night in a twocar collision in Goshen that injured three Syracuse residents. The accident occurred at Pike and Third Sts. in Goshen. Injured were Anita F. Shumaker, 26, forehead contusions; Leanne Shumaker, nine, multiple facial contusions; and Erma Baker, 50, back sprain. All are of r 5 Syracuse. They were riding in a 1973 Oldsmobile driven by Stephen L. Baker, 31, r 1 Syracuse. The other driver, Gerald L. Gregory, 18, CR 450 N Leesburg, was cited for failure to yield-the-right-of-way, by Goshen police. Police said Gregory attempted a left turn south from Pike St. onto Third St. and his 1973 Buick collided with the oncoming Baker auto. 4-year-old pulled from icy waters Authorities investigated a report of a possible drowning Saturday night on Kale Island, Lake Wawasee, but found the victim, a four-year-old boy, had been rescued. At the same time, Syracuse police received a call reporting a man with a gun and a fight at the same location. According to the story pieced together by Kosciusko County and Syracuse police, Shane Lane, four, son of Randy Lane, r 1 o Syracuse, accidentally fell into water six to eight feet deep. He was rescued by a neighbor, Pete Melandez and his friend. Junior Villegas, who dove into the channel. Police said an argument later ensued over the method in which Melandez was carrying the youngster from the water and Melandez was reported to have thrown a rock through Lane’s window. No charges were filed, according to officials. Although witnesses said Lane came out of the house carrying a handgun, Lane denied this and there was no gun visible to police. The small boy was taken by ambulance to Goshen Hospital for observation.
