The group consists of 27 students representing 12 states and Canada. Besides traveling on week ends, the group will be on Spring Tour during the weeks of April 6-23. This tour will take them through Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia, Maryland. Washington D.C., Pennsylvania, Ohio, Canada. Indiana and Michigan.

Rev. S. C. Archer, pastor of the lake area Lutheran churches met with the pastors of the South Bend district, Indiana-Kentucky Synod, Luthern Church in America, on Tuesday, April 17, This group meets monthly at Bertha Norman to be at New Paris Bertha Norman of South Bend, who has been accepted as one of the most outstanding soloists in the field of Gospel Music today, will be giving a concert of gospel music, April 22, 6 p.m., at the New Paris Missionary Church. Despite her many years of extensive training and special tutoring, one easily determines the fact that her talent is a “beautiful gift from God”. She has appeared as guest soloist in the Evangelistic services for the Billy Graham Michiana Crusade on two occasions, the Cecil Todd Crusade of South Bend and many others. At present she is a director of music at the Greater Friendship Baptist Church of South Bend. Every performance to her is a special tribute of praise to God in thanksgiving for His glory in her life.

Honor roll released for Syracuse Junior High

Principal Charles Haffner has released the Syracuse Junior High academic honor roll for the third nine weeks grading period. Distinguished honor roll students must earn no more than one B with all other academic grades being A’s. Regular honor roll students must achieve at

various Lutheran churches in the South Bend area. Parish Bible Study for the lake area Lutheran churches will be held on Thursday, April 19, at 10 a.m. in Calvary Lutheran Church, 111 W. Orange St., Cromwell. The theme for this Bible Study is “Christian Life Disciples;” the topic of discussion will be “Outward Discipline Service.” The joint church council for the lake area Lutheran churches will meet on Thursday, April 19, at 7 p.m. in the Grace Lutheran Church, 200 E. Main St., Syracuse. Rev. Walter Stitt, assistant to Bishop Walter Wick, Indiana-Kentucky Synod, LCA, will be attending this meeting. The Lutheran Church Women of Grace Lutheran Church, Syracuse, will meet on Wednesday, April 25. at 7:30 p.m. in the home of Diane Archer. Grace Betes will provide refreshments for this meeting. Connie Krueger will present the program, “Speaking Out for Older People.” Several women of the church will be going to the Fountain View Nursing Home in Goshen to play games with the residents on April 22. Sacrificial breakfast is helci The annual Sacrificial Breakfast was held last Saturday at the Syracuse Church of God, with 35 persons in attendance. A musical prelude was furnished by Nancy Coy. Several passages of Scripture were read pertaining to the events at Gethsemane and the Crucifixion. There was special music by a trio, Jan Grindle, Judy Weaver and Jill Grindle, and two numbers sung by a quartet, Debbie Murrell, Roxanna Hadley, Mike Murrell and Ted Grindle. Dismissal was made to the Fellowship Hall where breakfast was eaten in silence and meditation. Pauline Firestone dismissed with prayer. The love offering was used to support Mr. and Mrs. Carroll McNutt, newly appointed missionaries to Mentmore Mission in New Mexico. Highway bids opened The State Highway Commission opened sealed bids at its regular monthly bid letting Tuesday, April 17, at 10 a m. in the Atkinson Hotel in downtown Indianapolis. The work projects planned for Elkhart County are spot improvements on US 33 between Elkhart and Goshen and bridge deck sealing on various bridges. Kosciusko County also has planned bridge deck sealing on various bridges as part of its work project. Accident causes SIOO damages An auto driven by Lillian J. Hirons, 63,' 431 Medusa St., Syracuse, backed into an auto owned by Kimberly A. Bachelder, 18, r 3 box 747 Syracuse. The accident occured Thursday, April 12, at 3:55 p.m. in front of Curl’s Beauty Shop. Both autos were parked facing east on the last Access road before the accident. Damage to Hiron’s auto was estimated at SSO and damage was also estimated at SSO to Bachelder’s auto. Syracuse police investigated.

Kelli Mort wins grand prize

Kelli Mort, a fourth grader at North Webster Elementary School, came away the grand prize winner in the annual Easter Coloring Contest, sponsored jointly by The Mail-Journal and area merchants. Kelli, r 2 box 79 North Webster, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald E. Mort. For her prize, Kelli received a $lO cash.award. She entered her prize winning drawing at The Dairy Queen, Syracuse.
