She is reported to have opened her eyes and squeezed the nurses hands but is unable to speak. She was injured in an early morning accident March 2, north of North Webster on SR 13. FRANK PUTT HOME FROM SAINT MARY’S Frank Putt, Syracuse, returned home recently from Saint Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn. While in the hospital he had operations on both hips. He can now be up with the use of crutches. SCOTT ARNOLD HOME Scott Arnold, son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Arnold, returned home yesterday afternoon (Tuesday) from Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne. He underwent surgery Friday, April 6, for a broken jaw and a broken knee cap. According to his father he is progressing as expected by the doctors and will be in a cast for six weeks. Arnold was injured in a two-car accident March 23 at the east edge of Bristol. Births BECK. Jeffrey Kirk Mr. and Mrs. Kirk Beck, Archibold, Ohio, are the parents of a son, Jeffrey Kirk, born Monday, April 2, in the Fulton County Health Center, Wauseon, Ohio. He was born at 8:10 p.m. and weighed eight pounds, one half ounce and measured 20 inches. Mrs. Beck is the former Sally Personette. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Fred Personette,

Syracuse EMS Yvonne Coy, 22, r 3 box 124 Syracuse, complained of pain at 11:59 a.m. and was transported to Goshen Hospital on Wednesday. Elta Jean Davis, nine, Haviland Mobile Home Court was brought to the fire station at 9:33 am. Saturday, April 7. after being bitten by a cat. She was treated and the ,parents were advised to see a doctor. Twilla Bomman. 38, r 2 box 390 Syracuse was transported to Goshen Hospital with a head injury, at 12:47 p.m. Saturday. April 7. Brenda Borntrager, 17, 67189 and Linda Borntrager, 15. 67189 Goshen Hospital following an accident at 12:47 p.m. Saturday. The ambulance was called to the home of Marian Porter. 64, r 2 box 225 Syracuse at 6:46 p.m. Monday, when she suffered chest pains. She was not transported. Janice Hoover, 18. 613 Mullin Street, was transported to Elkhart Hospital with labor pains at 1:05a.m. today (Wednesday). At 2:35 a m. Wednesday, the EMS team transported Jeff Markley, 16, 112 North Lake St., to Goshen Hospital. He was complaining of stomach pains. Joy Sims, 69. 206 S. Huntington St., was taken to Goshen Hospital at 6:20 a.m. Wednesday. She was experiencing difficulty in breathing. Milford EMS Members of the Milford Emergency Medical Services answered only one call during the past week. On Sunday they were called to an auto accident on SR 15 south of Milford at about 3 p.m. Three sisters from Middlebury were injured and were transported to the Goshen Hospital Emergency Room. Meeting set The Milford Junction Economic Development Commission will hold a meeting at 3 p.m. April 17, in the town hall. Considered will be an industrial revenue bond issue in the amount of $2,250,000 for purposes of constructing a manufacturing and office building addition for Brock Manufacturing, Inc. Included in the construction will be landscaping, driveways, parking • and related capital improvements to be used in the manufacture of grain bins, feed bins and related projects. The meeting is open to the public. Parked car hit A parked car, owned by Steven C. Archer, P.O. Box 655 Syracuse, was damaged at 1:35 p.m. Tuesday when it was struck by a motorcycle driven by David L. Gibson, r 2 Lakeview Apartments, Syracuse. Gibson lost control of the motorcycle while driving on Winona Drive in Syracuse. He was cited for not having a registration plate by Syracuse police. Damage was listed as $125 to Archer’s Ford car and SSO to Gibson’s 1975 Bultaco motorcycle. $670 damages in accidental WHS The Syracuse police were called to Wawasee High School at 3:05 p.m. Tuesday, when Linda R. Perry, 16, P.O. Box 397 Milford backed out of a parking space and hit the right front fender of a car owned by Robin M. Hamman, 18, P.O. Box 74 North Webster. Damage to Hamman’S 1975 Pontiac was estimated at $550 and $l2O to the front bumper of Perry’s 1973 Chevrolet.
SUSTAIN INJURIES — A mishap on SR 15, approximately 350 feet south of Milford city limits, Sunday afternoon caused injuries to three members of a Middlebury family. Injured were: Marilyn J. Weaver. 22. driver, who suffered neck pain; and her two sisters, Carla Weaver, 24. who sustained a forehead cut and Bonnie Weaver. 18. who suffered hip and leg pain. All three were treated at Goshen Hospital. ♦ Damage to the Weaver vehicle was set at S7OO. Milford Town Marshal David Hobbs investigated.

Mrs. Eli Hochstetler Funeral services were held at 9:30 a m Sunday in the home of a son. Earl Hochstetler, southwest of Nappanee, for Mrs. Eli (Sarah J.) Hochstetler, 78. r 2 Nappanee. She was the mother of Omer Hochstetler of Milford. Death came in the Kosciusko Community Hospital at 3.15 p.m. Thursday. She had been there one day suffering a stroke. Mrs. Hochstetler was born in Middlefield. Ohio. She married Eli J. Hochstetler on February 1. 1920. He survives Surviving with the husband and two sons listed above are five other sons. Willis, Howe. Jesse and Lonnie of Nappanee and Glen aAd Marvin of Goshen; five daughters, Mrs. Levi (Verda) Hochstetler of Nappanee. Mrs. John (Edna) Chupp and Mrs. Melvin (Lovina) Schwietert of Goshen. Mrs. Melvin (Mattie) Yoder of Guthrie. Ky. and Miss Ellen Hochstetler at home; 64 grandchildren; 70 greatgrandchildren; three brothers. Andrew J. Miller Os Gladstone. Mich., Willma J. Miller of Virginia Beach. Va.. and John J. Miller of Amelia. Va.; three sisters, Mrs. John (Anna) Miller and Mrs. Mary Sieigman. both of Nappanee and Mrs. Lovina Miller. Wooster, Ohio. Bishop Uriah Mast of the Old Order Amish Church officiated at the ceremony with burial in Graber cemetery. Funeral arrangements were in the charge of the Wright-Yoder Funeral Home. Nappanee. Amanda Fisher Sept. 23. 1895 — April 7. 1979 Mrs. Amanda M. Fisher. 83, formerly of South W’hitley, mother of Charles Fisher, Syracuse, died in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Robert Julian, r 6 Columbia City, Saturday evening. April 7.1 She was born un Cleveland Township, W’hitley County, on September 23, 1895, to Reuben and Cinda (Kreider) Bentz. She married Charles Fisher who preceded her in death. She was a member of the Centerview Community Church, South Whitley. Other survivors include another daughter. Mrs. Elmer (Gladys) Ervin. Warsaw; three sons, John Fisher. Warsaw, Kenneth Fisher, Fort Myers, Fla.; Clarence Fisher, Millersburg; 25 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Susie Montz. Phoenix Ariz., Mrs. Ray Piper and Mrs. Carlos Miller, Sebring. Fla. Two sisters, three sons, and two brothers preceded her in death. Gard. 63, Epworth Forest, father of Mrs. Arthur (Fay) Iden. North Webster, died at 2 p.m Thursday, April 5. of an apparent heart attack while he was working at the Alan Miller farm He was born in Elkhart Township but lived in the Cromwell community most of his life until two years ago when he moved to Epworth Forest. He was a member of the Cromwell United Methodist Church and the Gideon Society International. Other survivors include his wife. Millie; a son. James D. Gard. Saint Johns. Mich.; one brother. Robert Gard, Elkhart; a sister. Mrs. Charles (Lillian) Hosford; and five grandchildren. Services were conducted Monday. April 9. in the United Methodist Church. Cromwell, at 10:30 a m. Mabel Snyder Oct. 4, 1907—April 5. 1979 Mrs. Fred (Mabel Marie) Snyder. 71, Pierceton, a former Milford Elementary School teacher, died at 4 a m. Thursday in the Whitley County Memorial Hospital. Columbia City. She had been in failing health for several months. She was born in Wabash County on October 4, 1907, to Mr. and Mrs. George Wood. She married Fred C. Snyder in Pierceton on June 5, 1930. He preceded her in death on January 26, 1978. She was raised in Wabash County and graduated from Chester Township High School in 1925. She received her teaching degree from Manchester College in 1928 and moved to Pierceton where she became an elementary teacher. She. had resided in Pierceton for the past 50 years.

Besides teaching in Pierceton and Milford, she served as special education teacher for the Whitko School Corporation, retiring in May of 1974. She was a member of the Pierceton United Methodist Church, the church’s women’s group, a past matron of the Pierceton Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the White Shrine of Fort Wayne. Indiana State Retired Teachers’ Association, Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, and was a Red Cross Blood Bank volunteer, a driver for Meals on Wheels and participated in numerous other civic activities. Surviving are one son, Robert, who recently returned to the Pierceton community to live; one grandson, Gary Frederick Snyder; one stepgrandson. Martin J. Clark. Saline, Mich.; one uncle: and one cousin. Funeral services were held in the Wyman Funeral Home at Pierceton at 2 p.m. on Monday with Rev. Edward McClarnon and Rev. John Moore officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest cemetery', Pierceton. OES memorial services were held on Sunday at the funeral home. Ralph E. Burson Ralph E. Burson, 67, Timberlane Acres, r 3 Churubusco, died Tuesday, April 3, in Saint Joseph’s Hospital. Fort Wayne. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry Burson and lived at Papakeechie Lake many years. Burson retired from the Penn Central Railroad in 1973 after 35 years service. He was a machinist at the Samuel Rae Shop. Hollidaysburg. Pa , for 11 years, having spent the earlier years of his service at the Fort Wayne Pennsylvania Railroad shops. Surviving are his wife. Eleanor; two daughters, Nancy, at home and Ruth Blackburn of Bedford County, Pa.; and two grandchildren, Candace and Damien Blackburn. Two brothers preceded him in death. Memorial services were held in the Wawasee Lakeside Chapel, Syracuse, Sunday. April 8. at 3 p.m.
