FFA hosts leadership contests
On Saturday. March 17. the Wawasee FFA Chapter hosted the annual District II Leadership Contests. Over 200 FFA members competed in the various contests. Two Wawasee FFA members advanced to the state level of competition by winning their respective demonstrations. Judy Wall placed first in the horticulture demonstration and Joe Sands was top individual in the ag mechanics demonstration. They will represent Wawasee High School during the organization’s annual state convention at Purdue University in June. Bart Bowser, Roy Teeple, Judy Wall, Joe Sands. Richard Owen. Jay Kaiser, Doug Wuthrich, and Mike Shock. In overall competition, based on the individual performances, the Wawasee chapter placed third. He graduated from Milford High School in 1969, received a BS degree in business from Manchester College in 1973 and was licensed as a real estate broker in 1975. He is married to Jane Knapp of Morton, 111., and has lived there for three years, being engaged in masonry contracting. They are the parents of two sons, Jeremy and Jason and live at Waubee Lake. He will be inducted as a realtor member of the Kosciusko Board of Realtors this evening (Wednesday).

Private property week poster contest held
The Kosciusko Board of Realtors is sponsi'ng a private property week poster contest. The theme used for the contest was Private Property Week. April 15 to 21. “This Land is Your Land: Preserve It, Enjoy It, Invest In It.” Contestants used only one of the three themes. The contest ended last Friday and all posters are currently being judged. Sixth grade students who attend classes in Kosciusko County participated, however, children of Kosciusko County Board of Realty members will be disqualified from cash prizes. All posters will be displayed in the county courthouse commons during Private Property Week. Three cash prizes and honorable mentions will be awarded. The posters are currently being judged by five

'Canal lira' topic for society The Kosciusko County Historical Society will hold its March meeting on Wednesday, March 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the REMC building, Warsaw. The speaker for the evening meeting will be Charles R. Poinsatle, professor of History at Saint friary’s College, Notre Dame. Doctor Poinsatle’s topic for the evening will be “Northern Indiana during the Canal Era < 1828-1855 >. The Canal Era in Indiana was a time of great change. Doctor Poinsatle’s book “Fort W’ayne during the Canal Era” has charted this in great detail. The meeting is open to the public as well as to society members and friends of the society. Leesburg driver in accident Saturday Leanne K. Kunce, 17. r 2 Leesburg, was in a two-vehicle acccident on 8 Square Road, near Suburban Acres Mobile Home Park, Warsaw, at 4:35 p.m. last Saturday. Driving the second vehicle was Sheila M. Robinson, 26,1503 East Center St., Warsaw. County Patrolman Richard Monk investigated and estimated $550 in damage to the Kunce auto and $l5O to the Robinson auto. Policy advisory meeting set A meeting has. been set for 7:30 p.m., March 29, of the Kosciusko County policy advisory committee.. The meeting will be held in the Kosciusko County Extension Office, 1779 North Detroit St., Warsaw. Water quality planning will be discussed The meeting is open to the public. NORTH WEBSTER YOUTH SENTENCED Kenneth Joseph Keane, 17, r 1 North Webster, was sentenced to the Indiana Boys’ School recently on a charge of illegal possession of marijuana.

Kindergarten survey underway at Syracuse
The Syracuse Elementary School is presently conducting a survey of families in Turkey Creek Township to determine their kindergarten enrollment for the 1979-80 school year, according to Robert D Hamman. principal. A survey letter has been sent home with elementary students, but this letter would miss families with no children in school unless it was passed on to them. Parents of children who will attend kindergarten at Syracuse in September should complete a survey letter and return it to the school office.
