She commented, “I try to prepare the children for what they will need for kindergarten next year. If they could have coordination skills, they would be well prepared for kindergarten. The teacher went on to say. “Children are much more capable of academics than most people think. This can be work time and play time combined." of the older children. The school teaches children from ages three to five. Mrs Perzanowski said. “I think we've got as strong a program as any kindergarten ” As the school year starts a basic routine is taught to the children. This is very important to the children, said the teacher. “They just feel a lot more secure working in a situation they understand " She stresses this routine be continued in the home environment. “Parents just don't realize what they can be doing with them at home. Once they see this, they can reinforce it at home." The school meets from 9-11:30 a m. Mondays. Wednesdays and Fridays. Besides the in-school activities, the children will occasionally go on a field trip. Mrs. Perzanowski commented, “We try not to plan too many. an Indiana University reading clinic she attended. She said. “It gave me a much better idea. If you can follow a learning pattern with children, it’s much easier for the children. You just take it step by step. Christian School Most of the children come from the North Webster and Syracuse communities. A few are members of the church. Mrs. Perzanowski said, “Ours is basically a Christian nursery school. We do try to teach the Bible along with the academics. She feels the children are especially receptive to their teaching. “They are really listening and learning. They can learn a lot more Bible concepts since w r e meet three times a week.” What about parent reaction? "They’ve been extremely pleased," said the teacher. “They feel their children are gaining a lot more than at other schools.
