In his speech he covered the present status of the State Legislature business. He indicated passage of four • of five bills of Governor Bowen's so called tax package appears to be assured. Passage of the bill revising the Indiana Gross Income Tax appears questionable. Augsburger indicated two bills which he is’very much interested in will not pass at this session. These are a bill which would enable the small claims court to be useful for small business and a bill which would make the prevailing wage rates for public projects the prevailing rates within the county where they project is located. The Senator indicated he will continue to work for passage of these bills. During a question and answer period Senator Augsburger gave the argument for and against selecting candidates for Governor and Lt. Governor at a state convention. Standing with Augsburger are Richard Long. left, president of Lakeland Kiwanis and Phil Hoy. right, president-elect of Lakeland Kiwanis.
