Grace was the top winner, making 20 out of 25 free throws in the girls age 12 group.

Junior High wrestling invitational Saturday
Wawasee High School hosted its annual Junior High Wrestling Invitational on Saturday, March 10. Several area teams participated in the tourney. They included Milford, North Webster, Pierceton, Syracuse, Towncrest, Warsaw, West Noble and Whiteman. Monthly EMS report given Syracuse EMS captain Corky Wong has issued the following month end report for February involving the emergency unit: Total calls, 32; transport to Goshen Hospital, 24; to Elkhart hospital, two; to other hospitals, two; and non-transport, four persons. Ambulance calls in the town were 13; in the township, 16; and in other townships, three. Total miles traveled by ambulance were 914; miles traveled loaded in ambulance. 505; miles on town calls, 460; loaded miles on town cal is, 228; miles on township calls. 454; loaded miles on township calls, 214; miles on other township calls, 110; and loaded miles on other township calls, 63. Total miles traveled on nontransport calls was 37. Average time involved per call was one hour and 33 minutes. Vehicles collide in Webster Extensive damage was listed in a two-vehicle accident at 5:20 Monday evening at the intersection of SR 13 and George Street in North Webster, however, no injuries were reported. Damage was estimated at S2OO to a vehicle "driven by Carl Waugh, 21, of North Webster, and $1,500 to the car driven by WUma Ellis, 62, also of North Webster. Deputy Marshal Frank Winters investigated the accident. Chamber Orchestra presents evening program for BPW Members of the Syracuse Business and Professional Women’s Club met Tuesday evening for their regular monthly meeting, held at the Masonic Lodge, with 21 members and one guest, Kay Lowe, present. Preceeding a brief business meeting, the Wawasee High School Chamber Orchestra, directed by Ganette Smith, presented a program of musical selections. Gerry Byland received the door prize. Hostesses for the evening were Betty Ganshorn and Marilyn Stoops.

Miller T Investigation continues on knifing Investigation continues by Syracuse police on a possible knifing and beating incident involving 27-year-old Timmie E. Coyle of Elkhart sometime Saturday night or early Sunday morning. Syracuse police and EMS were called to 119 West Portland Street, Syracuse, at 7:10 a m. on Sunday for Coyle who had lost a quantity of blood. A son of James Coyle. 1718 Moyer Avenue. Elkhart, young Coyle had a severe cut to the knee and leg area and right hand, reportedly sustained with a butcher knife. He had been kicked and beaten about the body. His condition worsened enroute to Elkhart Hospital and he was taken to Goshen Hospital for emergency treatment. No other details are avialable at press time. Roy Davis quits It was learned this week that Roy Davis, Syracuse street and water manager, has quit. Davis had worked for the department as manager for almost one year. He replaced Robert Farber, who resigned as assistant street and water superintendent. Harley Conrad, street and water superintendent, gave no reason for Davis’ quitting. Davis could not be contacted fora statement. Advertising, as we see it, is the cheapest salesman a business can employ.

Cited for improper passing in Goshen Tracv Jill Rinker. 17. r 4 Syracuse, was cited by Goshen police at 5:59 p.m. Monday for improper passing at an intersection following a collision. The Rinker woman, driving a 1974 Gremlin, collided with a turning 1972 Dodge being driven by Steven W. Schlabach. 16. of CR 34 Goshen. There were no injuries in the accident.
