Teenager booked after chase

Sam Norman. 16, Syracuse, was booked in the Kosciusko. County jail after the theft of a truck owned by Paul E. (Mike) Hodges, former Warsaw mayor and a high speed chase in Whitley County. Hodges reported his 1978 black and brown Blazer had been removed from the parking lot of a Warsaw restaurant, at 9 p.m. Monday, March 5. A report from Whitley County Sheriff Deputy Tom Fisher reported he was in pursuit of the stolen truck west of Whitko High School in South Whitley. The truck is said to have been

traveling in excessive speed when it hit a water spot on CR 950 W, north of 400 S. and went crossway across the road for approximately 470 feet, rolling over three times. This occurred at 9:30 p.m. Norman was treated at Kosciusko Community Hospital for cuts on the back and hand along with abrasions. He was held in the county jail with charges of vehicle theft and fleeing a police officer. Assisting the Whitley County police were Kosciusko County Lt. Rich Mikel and Patrolman Burdell Blackburn.

Johnny Cash to host four-hour special

Warsaw man sentenced for area burglaries

David A. Dishman. 18, of r 1 Warsaw, was sentenced in Kosciusko County Court last week on a charge of conversion, and ordered to pay fines and costs totaling $60.50. His arrest cleared 21 burglaries in the Syracuse and North Webster areas. Kosciusko County officers arrested Dishman on February 15 for conversion in connection with items stolen from the cot-

Thesegment lends emphasis to the fact that last year there were 80.000 attempts at suicide by teenagers. As Johnny Cash says: “Children fall prey to alcohol, drugs, crime and depression so severe that thousands every year decide the only way out is to commit suicide.” Highlights of the program include the contrast between the young who are in trouble and those who have come under the influence of the Youth for Christ's Campus Life or Y’outh Guidance programs The special is sponsored locally by Youth for Christ, a unique organization in contact with more than two million young people every month in 54 countries around the world. In this area they are in the junior and senior high schools, in detention homes and other places where youth are found, helping them to establish foundations strong enough to keep them from alcohol, drugs, suicide and prostitution.
