In connection with this study, Lawrence Pietcher’s reading class presented a play on Thursday and Friday, March 8 and 9. The other fourth grade classes attended and parents were invited also. The play depicted early Hoosier pioneers defending their homes and fort from Indian attacks. ’ Leading characters in the play were portrayed by Julie Schmahl. Mike Restivo, Ann Marie Vitaniemi and Tim Mangas.

Zartman. Milford, lost control of the auto he was driving and struck a tree on Old SR 15, one half mile north of 1350 N. near Milford. The accident occurred at 10:30 p.m. Friday, March 9. The 1974 Dodge auto was owned by Mrs. Eva Zartman. Milford. Investigating officer, Milford Marshal David Hobbs listed the auto as a total loss with SI,OOO damage.

JVlay 5, according to Carol Westfall, executive director for the northern Indiana chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The 1979 event has been expanded to include Fort Wayne. South Bend, Elkhart. Angola, Auburn, Kendallville. Columbia City, Decatur. Bluffton, Huntington. Wabash. Peru. Logansport, Warsaw, Plymouth. Goshen. Michigan City. LaPorte and Valparaiso. The MS bike-hike is a type of biking-running marathon where participants of all ages. bike. run. jog. roller skate or whatever they like, along one of the bike-hike routes. Participants get sponsors who pledge a small amount for each mile completed. The 1978 event in northeastern Indiana saw over 500 participants raise $24,000 for multiple sclerosis. Volunteers are being sought now to help with the planning, publicity and coordination of local routes. To volunteer, register, or for additional information, contact the Multiple Sclerosis Society at 226 West Wallace in Fort Wavne.

Milford Marshal David Hobbs advises people to write down the identification numbers of their bicycles in case they are stolen. Hobbs stated it is harder to locate a stolen bicycle without the owner having the serial or identification number recorded somewhere. If anyone has any question on where to find the serial or identification number he or she can contact any law enforcement officer. Stanley Martin injured when auto hits pole Stanley E. Martin, 48, 114 Fourth St.. Milford, suffered minor injuries in a one car accident Wednesday, March 7. The accident occurred at the corner of CR 1350 N and CR 400 W. northwest of Milford, at 6:55 p.m. Martin was heading east on CR 1350 N, when he started coughing and lost control of his auto. The auto headed off the left side of the road, traveled 130 feet into a ditch and hit a utility pole. He was treated at Kosciusko Community Hospital for a laceration to the nose and cuts and scrapes to his face, state police said. Damage to the car was set at SI,OOO by Indiana State Police Trooper Jim W. Kaylor.

Sheriff gives February report

Kosciusko County Sheriff C. Alan Rovenstine has released the sheriff’s departments activities report for the month of February’. During this time the depart-

ment vehicles were driven a total of 24,986 miles. During the month the officers answered 371 complaints. served 334 papers, made 21 traffic arrests and responded to 29 off duty complaints. There were no fatal accidents during the past month but there were a total of 73 accidents with eight arrests. Nine persons were injured in accidents and 102 cars were involved. The accidents totaled $69,725 damages, $4,960 being property damages and $64,765 in estimated vehicle damages. The major amount of accidents occurred during the daylight hours with 44 accidents. 19 accidents occurring at night and 10 accidents at dusk or dawn. The county jail report shows the sheriff’s department jailed 71 persons, the state police two and the city police department 60. The total bookings at the jail were 133 persons. Six of the bookings were juvenile girls, 20 juvenile boys. 90 adult men and 17 adult women. The department investigated 18 burglaries, 11 thefts, nine vandalisms, one battery, two child

The accident happened on CR 175E, one mile east of Milford at 9:38 p.m. Kosciusko County Patrolman Jeffrey Bronsing and Reserve Officer John Kussmaul said Harrell’s auto went off the road and struck fence posts, which w’ere owned by Leon Tucker, Milford. Damage was set at $1,500t0 the 1976 Harrell auto and S2OO to the fence post.
