The gym is still in active use by Akron Junior High and Elementary students., although the partitions between the floor and seats are gone.

The building was constructed in 1926 at a cost of |5,000. It is said that part of the Old Mentone ball park fence was torn down and used in its construction. The building still stands today across from the old high school in Mentone. The above photo was taken in 1953, the last year the building was used as the Mentone Bulldogs home court.
