Syracuse BZA acts on various petitions
Members of the board of zoning appeals at Syracuse met last Thursday evening for the hearing of five petitions in the area. A request by Dorothy Firestone for a special exception of a twounit multi-family dwelling on Pickwick Road in a commercial district, was tabled for a drawing of her proposal. The plan calls for an addition onto a present single family dwelling with the addition to be the same size or larger as the current structure. Permission was approved for the Windjammer to construct a canopy within 16 feet of Sr 13 right of way at the south edge of Syracuse, with stipulation the canopy will never be enclosed. The owners of the restaurant plan a canopy for convenience of dropping off guests at the entrance. A request was asked for special exception to convert a one-family residence to a multi-family dwelling of three units just south of her present business on South Huntington Street. She also asked variance to allow the conversion of the single family dwelling to multi-family dwelling on the one-half lot. Footage is 3,795 square foot instead of the 15,000 square foot required under zoning. Members reviewed the requests, footage, and setbacks and denied the requests due to inadequate space for parking for three apartments. Board members present were chairman. Dee Stiver; secretary, William Pipp; Joseph Hughes and Charles Miller. Also present was Dan W. Richard, county plan commission director.
