Tippy trustee announces hours, special meeting The advisory board of Tippecanoe Township will hold it’s regular board meetings the second Tuesday of the month at the fire station in North Webster. These are open to the public. Any special meetings will be announced in advance. The office of the Tippecanoe Township Trustee is located at the rear of the North Webster Fire Station and is open between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Effective Wednesday evening, Feb. 14, the trustee’s office at the fire station will be open from 7 to 9 p.m. for the convenience of those who can not get in during the regular hours and thereafter will be open every Wednesday night. Legislative questionnaire results given by Augsburger
INDIANAPOLIS - Residents of Indiana’s 13th Senate District have indicated their strong support for the Republican tax* reduction program, State Senator ? John B. Augsburger (R-Milford) said today. Augsburger said the results of his annual legislative questionnaire have been tabulated and indicate that 72 per cent of those responding favor increasing property tax relief from 20 per cent to 22 per cent, and 69 per cent favor extending the property tax control package past 1980, when it is due to expire. Additionally, 67 per cent favor a 15 per cent reduction in the adjusted gross income tax and 79 per cent favor a homestead deduction. On other issues, 65 per cent of those responding to the Augsburger poll feel that Indiana should rescind ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment, while 83 per cent oppose mandatory conversion to the metric system. Additionally, 72 per cent are in support of legislation banning the sale of non-returnable beverage containers, and 82 per cent of those responding feel that Indiana high school students should be required to pass a minimum competency examination. Regarding the performance of the legislature and whether it should become full time, 10 per cent feel the General Assembly is doing an excellent job, 44 per cent feel it is doing a good job, 40 per cent believe it is doing a fair job, four per cent poor and two per cent believe the legislature is doing a lousy job. 69 per cent oppose a full time, year round legislature. “I want to thank the over 400 residents who took the time and made the effort to answer this year’s questionnaire,” Senator Augsburger stated. “The opinions of my constituents are Police recover stolen snowmobile A late model John Deere snowmobile, belonging to Arthur Marose of Leesburg and stolen from the Wawasee High School parking lot on January 26, was recovered on Sunday. Syracuse police found the unit about one-quarter of a mile south of Wawasee High School Sunday morning, out of gas, but with no apparent damage at this time. The call was received from Larry Looney of the court for a unit owned by Richard Barefoot. Damage was estimated at $6,500 and exact cause of the fire, which started in the area of the kitchen range, was unknown. The Benton Fire Department was called in to assist, however, the fire was out when that department arrived. The Benton department remained on the scene to clear the area.
