Serving the Lord, each in her own way
Nancy Swihart brings art to church Nancy Swihart has been art director at the Syracuse United Pentecostal Church, 206 S. Harrison St., Syracuse, for the past year. “I really enjoy it,” she commented. Her work with art began when she started teaching Sunday School at the church four years ago. “I never tried art until I was involved in the church. When I started as a Sunday School teacher, I began making things. " As art director, she fashions any project the pastoh Rev. David M. Hudson, gives her. She has lettered a scroll, made posters, various banners plus a series of sketches showing different people and their attitudes. Most recently, she has fashioned a letterhead for the church entitled, "The lighthouse of the lakes." Sunday School Teacher Mrs. Swihart has been a member of the church for four years. Besides her art duties, she teaches the third and fourth grade in Sunday School. She also served as Sunday School secretary for a year. As a teacher, she tries to make her class as interesting as possible. “It takes a lot of preparing,” she stated. "I like to do extra things. Children that age appreciate anything. It’s easy to please them. ” She has about seven children who regularly attend her class. Another important job Mrs. Swihart holds in the church is missions secretary. Here, she is responsible for the offerings, sending the missionary pledges to headquarters and notifying the missionaries of any address changes. The church supports 10 families in various missions. The Swiharts have lived in Syracuse for over eight years. Besides her duties in the church, Mrs. Swihart works at the Premier Corporation in Syracuse. Her husband, Donald, works for TEC Industries. He also drives the Sunday School bus for the church.

BEAUTY THAT ENDURES MUST COME FROM WITHIN
Fery few of us were.born with the gift of great physical beauty or handsomeness, as the case may be, and consequently we have wasted a great deal of time and energy in envying the appearance of others. However, biographies of many movie idols would indicate that their good looks not only did not bring them happiness, but in some cases led to events that

actually shortened their lives. This is because surface beauty is as fleeting as the youth required to maintain it, and those who possess it often demand more from life than it can ever provide. At your Church, you will learn the secret of real beauty, which will bring you happiness and will still be yours long after the other kind has faded into oblivion.
