points were scored as the Trojans edged ahead 16-12 at halftime. At this point, Weisser took possession of the game and scored nine of Milford's 16 points in the third quarter to launch the Trojans into a commanding lead. Brad LeCount added eight points for the game as Milford coasted to a 35-24 win. North Webster and Pierceton met in the second morning game which also started slowly. The Trojans edged to a 13-10 halftime lead as both teams played deliberate basketball. The second half was mostly a repeat of the first half as both teams worked for good shots. The steadiest player proved to be Kim Zurcher as he scored in each quarter, hit three of four free throws and totaled 13 points to lead the Trojans to a 30-25 win. Pierceton's loss could be called charity as they hit only three of 14 free throws. Jeff Reid led Pierceton with eight points. In the consolation match, the Cubs took'their frustration out on the Yellow Jackets and hit from everywhere to -win 55-33. Brian Hough led the charge with a game high 26 points, 17‘Coming in the second half. All 15 Cubs sawaction and 11 of them were able to break into the scoring column. Ross Elias led the Yellow Jackets wi/h 10 points. In the title game the heavily favored North Webster squad was again led by Kim Zurcher. His 18 points kept the game a see saw battle as neither team led by more than three points at anytime. Unfortunately for the North -Webster team, the Milford Trojans wanted the win just as badly and knew what to do to earn it. Coach Ron Carmichael’s boys passed the ball around and took good shots. While they were shooting. North Webster was fouling and Milford’s 11 free throws made the difference. Weisser again emerged as the hero as his 10 points in the second half overcame the North Webster field goal superiority. Four Milford free throws in the last 30 seconds brought the game to a final 20 foot desperation heave by Zurcher which fell short giving Milford a 37-35 win.- Tony Blackburns 16 points were high for Milford in the game.. While no tourney team is

selected, any fan of basketball would have to be excited about the prospect of seeing Kim Zurcher, Tony Blackburn. Brad Weisser, Curt Ohlwine, Dick Doll or some of the rest of these boys playing in a Warrior uniform some day. Yellow Jackets lose warm-up game 43-25 The Syracuse Yellow Jackets challenged the combined Warsaw orange and black eighth grade teams and played them even for the first-half on Tuesday, Jan. 16./ In the second half, the taller Warsaw squad pulled away with deeper bench strength and won 43-2jT Jeff Thorn played his usual outstanding game for the Yellow Jackets. While netting only seven points he pulled down 14 rebounds to keep the game from becoming a rout. Ken Turner added six points in a reserve role and six Jackets scored in the game. At the end of the first quarter the Yellow Jackets led 7-4 as the Warsaw squad was having difficulty working together. At the half, the Jackets were behind by only two points. But in the third quarter the Tiger front line, which averaged 6’3” in height, took control of the backboards and the game. Early Lead In the eighth grade “B” game the Yellow Jackets also jumped to an early lead and were ahead at the end of the first cfuarter 10-7--"' A poor second quarter, in which the Tigers scored 16 points, cost Syracuse the game as each team scored 10 points in the second half. Phil Price and Andy Wysong led the Yellow Jackets in scoring with 10 points each, a season high for both boys. Price added four rebounds and four assists to easily be the games outstanding player. Tim Crum hit seven points but the rest of the team could only add three points. Thursday, Jan. 25, the Jackets play at Milford at 6 p.m. They then turn around and play Milford boys and girls teams again the following Tuesday at Syracuse, at 6:30 p.m. in the first round of the height team Camelot Tourney.

Wawasee held a slim 14-12 lead at the end of the first quarter, and probably could have built up a sizable lead had they had any luck at all from the free throw line. The Warriors, however, could connect on only one-of-nine shots from the charitystripe in the second quarter and Goshen carried a 24-23 lead into half-time. The third quarter saw the roof fall in on Wawasee. as the Warriors suffered through the first three and a half minutes without scoring, and Goshen’s lead ballooned to 34-23. Wawasee fought back to Cut the margin to five points at one point, but the
