THE MONTH of January is almost over. This writer is sure God must have planned January as a month to rest, just as he planned Sunday as a day of rest. We work hard all year and then we come to January..'. * Really, January is good for a lot of things! These cold, winter days are made for reading the books you have wanted to read for a long time, writing letters, working jigsaw puzzles, trying out new recipes and thinking about things you don’t have time to think about when the weather is warmer. prepare for their February spring cleaning, but they don’t count. They are the ones whose houses look spotless all the time, nothing is ever found out of place. Most of us put off spring cleaning until the weather warms up, then it’s too nice to be inside so the spring cleaning has to wait until fall. Only time will tell. -oSMOW MOB ILERS ARE causing a problem for Dwight Custer at the Big Boulder golf course. It seems that when he returned home last Tuesday from Texas there had been snowmobiles riding over the greens on the golf course causing extensive damage. , Early Thursday morning Dwight went out to the golf course and stopped one snowmobile rider who was using the golf course as a short cut He advised them not to be riding on the course again.

Syracuse Town Board seeking board member

The Syracuse Town Board is short one member. John R. Cripe, president, said the board is still seeking a person for that position. He commented, “We’ve acknowledged we do not have a board member from that area. We’ve been so busy, we haven’t done anything about it.” Currently on the board are Cripe, Darrell Grisamer, Paul Isbell and Forrest Smith. The spot to be filled is from the ward of Clifford Nicodemus, who resigned last year to move to California. ‘ Clifford’s ward, ward five, TRACTOR BREAKS DOWN One of the tractors clearing off Milford streets broke down this morning (Wednesday) on Main Street. Approximately five inches of snow fell over the area early this morning keeping the snow plows busy. Even more snow is expected by tonight. 'Excellent' year at State Bank James E. Caskey, President, State Bank of Syracuse reports that the State Bank of Syracuse had an excellent year in 1978. Caskey reported that earnings were up substantially over previous years, and the bank continues to experience excellent growth with total footings reaching almost $30,000,000 at year-end 1978. Bender installed by Kiwanians Members of the Milford Kiwanis Club officially installed their secretary, Richard Bender, at the regular meeting last Friday in the fire station. Extinguish car fire Syracuse firemen responded to an early morning call this morning (Wednesday) at 113 West Carroll Street, Syracuse, for a car fire.
