Farm storage facility loans number more than 75,000

Farm storage facility loans made to farmers in fiscal year 1978 numbered 75,881, a record high, according to Robert Strombeck, ..chairman of the Kosciusko County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation (ASC) Committee The new loan disbursements totaled more than $646 million and represented 754 million bushels of storage space. “This is the most activity in the history of the program. In fact, it is nearly three times as large as previous years activity. The second largest activity was in fiscal year 1977 when 25,705 new loans totaled $156.9 million and represented a 220.1 million bushel storage capacity.” , According to Strombeck, 58 loans totaling $754,756.88 were made to Kosciusko County farmers in 1978. The loans represented 758,802 bushels of storage space. The national and local capacity figures do not include Jloans made for high moisture and silage facilities, which are reported in tons, Strombeck said. “For 30 years we have”assisted farmers in obtaining almost 3 billion bushels of on-farm storage under the facility loan program." The ASC official said farmers will probably want more storage in years to come, because the ability to hold on to grain may prove the difference between profitand loss Under the program, farmers jean borrow money to build conventional on-farm storage facilities such as steel bins, wooden granaries, and wet i ENTERS INTO PARTNERSHIP — Ernie Rogers, a lifelong resident of the Syracuse community, has entered into partnership with Fry & Wells Realty in Syracuse, now to be known as Fry, Wells & Rogers Realty. Rogers is a graduate of Syracuse High School and has been associated in housing for 12 years and real estate for the past two years. Ernie resides on 19 North Shore Drive. Syracuse, with his wife. Julie, and three children, Stacy, Scott and Shelly, all at home. LICENSE SUSPENDED The driver’s licenses of Marvin K. Loveless, r 4 box P-34 Syracuse and Domingo Melendez, Jr., r 2 Milford, were both suspended for drunken driving. Their licenses were suspended by the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles. Loveless was suspended from November 5, 1978. to January 5, 1979 and Melendez was suspended from October 25,1978, to December 25, 1978. Henry K. Brown,; box 218 Claypool, received a judgment from the state bureau of motor vehicles

storage structures Loans are also available for remodeling existing storage facilities. Strombeck said the drastic increase in the facility loan program shows that many farmers realize they cannot depend on commercial storage during bumper years. “It also means that many farmers are holding open their options. If prices are poor, they will put their grain in reserve and collect the storage payment for storing the grain on their own farms.” No injuries in accident on North Shore Drive No injuries were reported in a two-vehicle accident at 4:10 Monday afternoon on an icy snowcovered hill on North Shore Drive. Syracuse. Damages were set at $2,800. A 1974 Ford driven by David D Walter. 23. Goshen, was coming down the hill and started to slide, slipping into a 1978 Ford school bus driven by Kathleen Richter. 30. r 2 Syracuse. On the left front side. Syracuse police investigated and reported the hill had not been sanded. Damage to the Goshen car was set at $1,600, with $1,200 to the bus belonging to the Council for Retarded of Kosciusko County Inc.. Warsaw. Break-in at Milford A break-in was reported at C.S. Myers Ford in Milford on Sunday, Jan. 14. Nothing was reported missing. Milford Town Marshal David Hobbs is continuing the investigation.
