Appointments, officers elected
Appointments were made and new officers elected during the recently held business meeting at North Webster Church of God. They are: Becky Boyer, business meeting secretary; Walt Corbin, church treasurer; Phyllis Albett, financial secretary; Bus Likens, head usher; Galen Haney, assistant usher; Linda Boggs, music and choir director; Dan Conkling and Jim Stump, assistant song leaders; D«ug Bowser. Sunday School Superintendent; Eldonna Warren, assistant; Marge Hickman, Sunday school treasurer; Louise Clayton, Sunday school secretary; Lyle Haney, assistant. Others elected are: Harold Mickley and Beth Boggs, board of trustees; Mary Stump. Barbee Ladies hold carry-in Barbee Ladies Christian Service members met December 14 at Barbee Community Church. The meeting was opened with group singing of Christmas music. The Bible lesson of Ephesians was studied and discussed. A carry-in dinner was served at noon. A Christmas gift exchange was enjoyed. Christmas gifts were wrapped for nursing home patients. Following the meeting the ladies visited nursing homes and distributed the Christmas gifts. Election of officers wil be held at the January meeting.
Hanover College production features Syracuse woman
Hanover College Theatres production of “And They Dance Real Slow in Jackson” is one of six plays chosen to be presented at the Great Lakes RegionAmerican College Theatre Festival January 10-14 at Bowling Green State University in Ohio, and features Miss Minda Gilliland of Syracuse. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Gilliland of r 2, and cast as Beth Willow, mother of the central character. Although not without humor, the play basically is an effort to look seriously at the first 25-years in the life of Elizabeth Willow, a young crippled girl. In addition to portraying her daily struggle to find away to live with dignity and happiness through the difficulties fate has brought her, the play also takes the spectator into the dream world to which Beth escapes. Past Chiefs hold holiday dinner-party Catherine Bause, r 1 Leesburg, was hostess for the December 13 Christmas dinner and party of North Webster Past Chiefs of the Pythian Sisters. A poem pertaining to the holiday season was read by Mrs. Bause. A short business session was held. Dues were collected and new officers elected. The Past Chiefs Club voted to retain its present slate of officers for another year. The dinner prayer was asked by Mrs. Bause. Serving tables were decorated in keeping with the Christmas season. A Christmas gift exchange was
freely back and forth through space and time in an almost filmic fashion. The original play, written by James J. Leonard, Jr., and directed by Professor Thomas G. Evans, will be performed on Saturday, Jan. 13, at 1 p.m. During the festival, judges will choose an entry or entries to be seen at the National American College Theatre Festival in Kennedy Center, Washington. DC. Hanover College has been a consistent participant at the Regional Festival, this being the seventh production to be chosen, with two of the previous six subsequently selected for performance at the National Festival. MILFORD YOUTH CHARGED A 17-year-old Milford teenager was held in the Kosciusko County jail over the week end following his arrest on a battery charge.

CHORAL PRESENTATION ON CHRISTMAS EVE A Choral Christmas presentation will take place December 24 during the morning worship service at North Webster Church of God. Ladies Bible study group will not meet North Webster Church of God Ladies Prayer and Bible Study group will not meet December 26 or January 2. Starting January 9 a new Bible study, covering the Old Testament Book of Exodus, will be started. The ladies will meet each Tuesday morning at 9:30 a m Beth Boggs is group leader Watch Service set at the NW Church of God A Watch Service will be held at 7 p.m.. Alice Kissinger and Mrs. Thomas Members of the Past Chiefs club will be in charge of serving refreshments at the January 9 meeting Badskeys special guests of sorority Mr and Mrs Loren Badskey were special guests at the Theta Sigma Chapter of Psi lota Xi Sorority Christmas party held December 12 at Tippecanoe Country Club. Husbands of the sorority members were invited guests. A program was presented by the Wawasee High School Swing Choir under the direction of Steve Bailey. Maryilynn Brower was presented with a special gift in recognition of her many hours of work in organizing the second North Webster Community Christmas Bazaar. The next meeting will be held January 9 in the home of Becky Rhoads.
