Obituaries

Former Milford businessman Ren S. Clark dead at 53

Private funeral services will be held at 1 p m. Thursday for Ren S. Clark, 53, a former Milford businessman. Clark died at 5:20 p.m. Tuesday in the Elkhart Hosptial where he had been a patient for one day. Death was the result of an extended illness. Clark was associated with Little and Clark, Milford, until ill health forced his retirement in 1971. Clark was also a former parts manager at Sharp Hardware. The deceased was born in Chicago on July 8, 1925, a son of Lester M. and Elizabeth (Humphrey) Clark. He lived in Milford most of his life. On August 18, 1946. he married Kathryn L. Stiffler. She survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Pennie Clark of Fort Wayne, Mrs. Dennis (Jill) Perrin of New Paris and Lori Clark, at home; one son, Mike, at home, and one grandchild. He was a member of the Milford Christian Church; Ancil Geiger Post 226, American Legion; Kosciusko Lodge 418 F Ralph Roush Services were held Friday for Ralph (Joe) Roush, 83, a former North Webster area resident. A resident of Byron Health Center, Fort Wayne, death came on Friday evening at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne and was due to complications following surgery. He was born on April 21,1895, in Noble County, a son of Alfred and Elizabeth (Rider) Roush. His marriage to Mildred Bause took place in 1917 and she died in 1965. He was then married to Rachael Eberly Moorehead in 1969 and she preceded him in death in 1971. The deceased was a retired baker. Survivors included two daughters, Mrs. Lawrence (Elizabeth) Slick and Mrs. Robert (Joan) Mosshammer, both of Fort Wayne; one son, Alvin Lawrence, San Diego, Calif.; one stepson; three stepdaughters; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Nellie Wilkinson of Winona Lake. Rev. Richard Kistler officiated for the service and burial was in Salem at Wilmot.

Mabel Hoover July 7, 1891 —Dec. 6,1978 Mabel (Wallace) Hoover, 87, of Richmond and formerly of Leesburg, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, in a° Richmond Nursing home. She was the sister of Mrs. Lloyd (Lucille) Harley, Leesburg. She was born in Leesburg on July 7, 1891, to John and Rosetta (Holderman) Ruple. In 1915 she married Marshall Wallace who died in 1949. In 1952 she moved from Leesburg to Richmond. Then in 1952 she married Rev. Clarence Hoover. Rev. Hoover died in 1962. She was a member of the Leesburg United Methodist Church, a former post mistress at Leesburg and a past worthy matron of the Order of Eastern Star at Leesburg where she was a 50-year member. Other survivors are one daughter, Mrs. George (Dorothy) Dobbelaere, Richmond; two sons, Robert F. Wallace, Portland and Harold Wallace, Troy, Ohio; eight grandchildren; five

great-grandchildren. One brother and two sisters preceded her in death. °

Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 9, at 1 p.m. in the Mishler Funeral Home, Milford. Rev. Kenneth Fast, pastor of the Leesburg United Methodist Church officiated. She was entombed at the Leesburg cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Leesburg United Methodist Church. Robert Robinson Dec. 2,1928 — Dec. 6,1978 Services were held Saturday for Robert Leßoy Robinson, 50, of Larwill, and brother of Richard Phillips of r 1 Syracuse. Death came early Wednesday at his home and was due to complications. He had been in failing health for the past six weeks. Born in Kosciusko County on December 2,1928, he was a son of William and Hazel Robinson. A veteran with the U. S. Army, he was a factory laborer at Starlite Corporation in Pierceton. The deceased was a member of the American Legion Post at Pierceton.

Born on February 5, 1895, in Claypool, a son of Jacob and Mealy (Cauffman) Deaton, he had resided in the Syracuse area most of his life. His marriage to the former Mosciline Strieby took place in Silver Lake on July 17, 1920, and she survives. A farmer and retired school teacher, the deceased was a member of the Zion United Brethren Church south of Syracuse. In addition to the widow, he is survived by a foster son, Eldon (Bud) Watkins of Syracuse; one granddaughter, Robyn Watkins, Indiana-Purdue University Campus at Fort Wayne; and three sisters, Fluella Tucker, Delphia Conklin, both of Fort Wayne, and Ruth Miller, North Manchester. died Thursday, Dec. 7, at 7:15 p.m. in the Elkhart Hospital. She had been a patient in the hospital for three weeks. A Kosciusko County native, Mrs. Etter was bom June 27, 1897, to Eli and Nancy (Taylor) Shively. She married Albert E. Etter on September 25, 1919. He preceded her in death on October 19,1959. Prior to moving to Leesburg in 1953 she resided at Fort Wayne and Bluffton. She was a member of the Leesburg First Brethren Church. Suvivors include one brother, Robert G. Shively, Leesburg; one sister, Mrs. Daisy Strausburg, Fort Wayne; several nieces and nephews among whom is W. D. 4 ‘Bill” Shively, Elkhart, who was raised by Mrs. Etter. Flamingo Drive, Englewood. Fla. Death occurred suddenly from an apparent heart attack on November 28 in Brown Mills, N.J. A native of Doe Run, Pa., he married the former Sandra Schleeter of Syracuse, and she survives. The deceased was a member of the American Legion at Syracuse and was a retired computer systems analyst for the Air Force Logistics Command. In addition to the wife, he is survived by a son, John R. Paxson, 111 of Bartlesville, Okla ; a daughter, Rosemary Paxson, San Antonio, Texas; one grandchild; and a sister. Cremation followed. Lois Torrance, 63, Turtle Bay Trailer Park. Syracuse, was transported to Goshen Hospital at 12:58 am. on Thursday for breathing difficulties. The EMS responded to a call at 12:10 p.m. on Sunday for Gary Howard, 21, r 2 Syracuse, who had been working on a car in a closed garage with the car running for about 30 minutes, and became ill. He was taken to Goshen Hospital. Carol Phillabaum, 17, r 1 Syracuse, required treatment at a Kale Island residence at 5:03 p.m. on Friday for a laceration to the upper gum and small punctures to the chin sustained in a car accident. Transportation was made to Goshen Hospital. Emily West, 13-months-old, r 3 Syracuse, was treated and transported to Goshen Hospital by the Syracuse EMS at 3:51 p.m. on Tuesday after taking an unknown amount of rat poison.

Stump. 69, of r 1 Pierceton and sister of Mrs. Wilbur (Irene) Chalfant of Barbee Lake, Leesburg. Death came Sunday afternoon at her home of an apparent heart attack. Born in Muncie on October 8, 1909, a daughter of Daniel F. and Luella (Cameron) Shroyer, she had resided in the community for the past six years. A housewife, she was united in marriage in Warsaw on May 3, 1975, to Kenneth F. Stump. He survives. Other survivors in addition to the husband and sister are a brother, Wilbur Shroyer of Ukiah, Calif.; and a nephew, Ed Biesemeyer of Warsaw. Rev. O.
