quarter of last year. Gerry Mitchell, Dana president, said that business for all three of Dana’s markets — industrial, service, and vehicular — continues to be exceptionally good. He said that order schedules remain very heavy, and that all operating facilities are working at or beyond normal capacity to meet customer demand. The concern over an upcoming economic softening is not reflected in Dana’s outlook for the remainder of this fiscal year, according to Mitchell. However, he said Dana is carefully monitoring the economy, and all operating divisions have been directed to execute prudent cost and inventory control measures during this period of uncertainty. Inflation remains the company’s chief concern, and Dana
plans to cooperate with President Carter’s voluntary anti-inflation program. McPherson applauded the productivity record of Dana people, and urged the government to share responsibility for reducing inflation by trimming its excessive costs and controlling expenditures. Dana’s new 35 cent quarterly dividend will be paid March 15, 1979, to shareholders of record February 27,1979. xz SI ilfei According to Aesop, bats fly at night to avoid their creditors.
