Since that time, he has been responsible for many new programs at the church. Last week end, a "Feast of Thanksgiving” was celebrated giving thanks to the Lord. Rev. Hudson has also helped instigate new youth programs and a feeling of involvement in the congregation. The church, itself, is benefiting from Rev. Hudson’s goodwill as it is in the process of receiving a facelift.

OHlome join us in a song of praise Before you start your gala feast. Then contemplate the many ways Your earthly joys have all increased. The hidden ways in which we’re blessed Are all too easily ignored, And that is why we now suggest You go to Church and thank the Lord. When our misfortunes are compared, We find our blessings far outweigh; So for the evils we’ve been spared, Let’s all give thanks upon this day! —Gloria Nowak

Mrs. Dahlstrom entertains for Methodist Women The Milford unit of the United Methodist Women met in the church fellowship room for their November meeting with Mrs, Richard Dahlstrom and Mrs. James Longfellow as hostesses. Refreshments were served prior to the meeting for the morning gathering. Mrs. Dean Cousins, president, called the meeting to order with a poem about "Awareness”, followed by prayer. During the business session it was decided to donate to the local Emergency Medical Service for the ALS program. In the spring, a donation will be made to the local park board. Mrs. Max Duncan presented the new slate of officers who were duly voted into office. Mrs. Everett Owens presented the lesson, in the form of a tape recording of a telephope call from God to Mr. Average Man. This comical recording had many lessons concerning church attendance, stewardship and support and along with in-home influence on the family members. The next meeting will be December 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the church fellowship rooms. 159 persons attend Webster service A crowd of 159 persons attended a special Thanksgiving service last Sunday, Nov. 19, at the North Webster United Methodist Church. An offering of $277.15 was sent to the Christian Rural Overseas Project. Churches participating along with the Methodist church were the North Webster Church of God, the North Webster Church of the Brethren and the Morris Chapel Church.

A Thanksgiving Message by Rev. David M. Hudson Syracuse United Pentecostal Church

Thanksgiving to be truly Thanksgiving is first, thanks and then giving. George Washington in his first Thanksgiving Day Proclamation on November 26, 1789, declared the Lord as the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is and that will be. In the words of the Psalmist David in Psalms 50:14 he declared, "Offer unto God thanksgiving..." My personal feelings as a dad is that Thanksgiving is a warm time, a time of closeness, of sharing as a family. I have many fond memories of Thanksgiving which I trust I can convey unto my children that they may likewise have fond memories. Thanksgiving is always a time I look forward to and a time which is hard for me to separate from Christmas. They are just times of warmth, feeling and security to me. As a pastor, Thanksgiving is something that we cannot overdo. Something which is so lacking in our society today. The Apostle Paul declared that in the last days people would be unthankful. May

God help us to be thankful people. There is so much to be thankful for. God warned Israel that after they had eaten and were full and built goodly houses and dwelt therein that their heart be not lifted up and that they not forget the Lord their God. I want to sound a clear note that I feel very strongly we need to express our thanks to God and to each other. My feelings are best described in the words of Bishop John S. Stamm who said, "There is an urgent need of the recovery of a more meaningful observance of Thanksgiving Day. Feasting, fellowship and other social activities are no substitutes for thanksgiving to* God. In these days when many people forget God, and when there is a growing totalitarian control, which rules God out and seeks to enforce a pagan philosophy of life, we as a nation need to remind ourselves of our national heritage." The Apostle Paul declared in 1 Thessalonians 5:18 that "In everything give thanks..."
