The past matrons and patrons of Kosciusko Chapter 160, Order of the Eastern Star, Milford, were honored at the November 1 meeting. Associate matron Cheryl Brunjes and worthy patron Joe O. that happened in her or his year with several having momentos to show. “Happy Birthday” was sung to Joan Kline. A memorial was conducted for Martha Love. The December 6 meeting will be a Christmas carry-in at 6 p.m. with a gift exchange. Twenty-five year pins will be presented. The chapter room and the dining room were decorated for Thanksgiving. The social committee served gingerbread with whipped cream? mints and coffee. Members of the committee were Evelyn Fisher, Agnes Hurd and Barbara Sorensen.

TO WED IN DECEMBER — Mr. and Mrs. Jack M. Carr of Syracuse announce the engagement of their daughter, Connie Sue, to Roger Mays, son of Mrs. Horace Mays and the late Mr. Mays of Elwood. Both Miss Carr and Mr. Mays are presently employed at the Weatherhead Company in Syracuse. A December 17 wedding is planned. Cardinal center to hold auction A Handmade Auction sponsored by the Cardinal Learning Center. 504 North Bay Drive Warsaw, will be held November 20 beginning at 7 p.m at the center. Auxiliary members and community people .will be providing the handmade articles. Articles from homemade jellies and jams to homegrown plants will be made available for auction. Also for auction is one year free service from United Telephone. All proceeds will go to the support of the Cardinal Special Olympic Team. This speical team competes in field and track events and in December will begin its basketball season.
Missionary Society meets
The Women’s Missionary Society of the First Brethren Church of Milford met with Mrs. Inez Beiswanger, Thursday evening, Nov. 2. Mrs. Herb Stump, president, presided over the business meeting. The ladies will meet November 15, with Mrs. Bev Suters, at 1 p.m., for the sewing project The theme for the lesson was “Jesus was Thankful” read by Mrs. Jack Sharp. Scripture reading was from John 11:41-42, Luke 22:17 and Ephesians 5:1821. followed by prayer. All present sang “I would be like Jesus.” Several poems on “Being Thankful” and “Thanksgiving” w ere also read. The meeting was closed by all Red Cross meeting set The 61st annual Red Cross meeting. Kosciusko County chapter, is slated for Thursday, Nov 16. in the Shrine Building. Warsaw. Dinner will start at 6:30 p.m. Reservations may be made by writing or calling the Red Cross office, 501 North Lake St., Warsaw by November 13. The election board members and officers as well as the general public are invited.

TO PRACTICE LAW — Phillip B. Rarick has recently joined attorney Milo W. Lightfoot in the practice of law at the Lake City Building, 114 S. Buffalo Street, Warsaw. Rarick, 26, is a graduate of Indiana School of Law, Indianapolis and was admitted to the Indiana Bar on October 14, 1978. He attended Wheaton College, Wheaton, HL, and graduated from Indiana University in 1974. Rarick is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert K. Rarick, Lake Wawasee. He presently resides in Syracuse. An athletic type, his hobbies include tennis, basketball, skiing and music. When asked how he liked residing in this area he responded by saying, “I really enjoy living here around the lakes. Program in third year — Boys learn about guns
A total of 34 young gun enthusiasts. mostly boys, received certificates Saturday morning for having received instructions on the proper use of firearms. Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Wartsler of South Bend recently moved on the Mrs. Samuel Klopenstein farm east of town while Guy Leatherman and family who had resided on her farm now live on the Manly Deeter farm near Salem. Ric Schaekel attends academy Ric Schaekel of Century 21, Beaty Realtors of Syracuse, was one of more than 215 Century 21 brokers and managers who completed a four day international management academy in Costa Mesa, Calif., last week. Strictly an educational academy, the seminar is designed to introduce all new affiliated brokers and managers to the advanced marketing tools and systems. The orientation is the first in a series of seminars and workshops planned to increase effective management growth. Century 21 is an international real estate sales organization with more than 6,000 affiliated, independently owned real estate offices throughout the United States and Canada, and with more than 55,000 salespeople. A certificate of course completion was awarded each attendee to the academy, who later toured the Century 21 International Headquarters building in Irvine, Calif.

year his department put on the gun instruction school at the Scout Woods, three miles southwest of Syracuse. He said 950 targets (clay pigeons) donated by the police department were used and 1,000plus shells were fired. Praises Program Chief Robinson had high marks for the program He said, “During the three years police have had the gun instruction school for young folks, we have not had a single incident where a youth was involved with a gun. ” He noted that prior to this time the department had a number of incidents that proved dangerous
