October 24 Subject complained that there is a long haired man going through the yards on North St He is wearing a blue plaid shirt and blue jeans. Lady at the station reports that lady at Turtle Bay Trailer Court let her two dogs out down the road. Lady at station reported her boyfriend’s sister. She claimed that the sister beat up herself and her two children. Lady on Front St. reported that her landlord locked her out of her apartment. She worked 11 hours today and her two sons are hungry Subject advised that an old Chevy pickup truck lost its wheel in the middle of the road, in front of Klinks. Lady at station looking for her son. He is a Cub Scout who was suppose to be back from a hayride at 8:30 p in. by a local church October 25 Subject asked for location of Lake ironies. Li«dy advised that she lost her billfold.

Lady reported that someone in a black and white car just took her mailbox. October 26 Maple City Firemen at station, filled eight extinguishers. Subject called and asked when is trick or treat night in Syracuse. Lady asked for information about putting a banner across state road 13. Service station picked up ambulance for muffler repair. Lady reported theft of a tape deck. She asked a unit to look around her house. She is at work in Bremen. Ambulance back at station after muffler repair. B & O Railroad asked if Fire Department could put water in one of their engines. October 27 Lady reported her cars were egged last night. Subject reported he found a garage door opener in a parking lot downtown. Local businessman found leather key chain with the letter “M” and two keys in a parking lot.
Lady called to report she has a missing wallet. Subject asked if Kosciusko County Court is open tonight; Kosciusko County police advised negative. Man on North Shore Drive reported that someone had taken his black and white 1979 Bronco. October 28 Lady who lives south of the Frog Tavern complained about a neighbor’s dog. Harris Funeral Home requests assistance for funeral procession going south on SR 13. Anonymous complaint of hunters shooting from moving pontoon boat. Lady reported a cornfield on fire. Lady on Harrison St. complained of neighbor children throwing rocks at her window. October 29 A lady smelled a burning odor similar to electric wires in her restroom; officer checked the situation out and found nothing out of order. A water leak was reported in front of the NIPSCo office; of-
ficer checked it out, will have to get with someone from NIPSCo on Monday. Man at a local service station reported some tires had been slit. Subject reported a tire was stolen from his truck parked in Warsaw. Man reported a “strange object” like a dummy, hanging in the woods, East side of SR 13, across from Baker’s Market. Lady advised a missing canoe from the pier on South Front St. Lady on Boston St. advised man lying in front seat of a car, apparently asleep, perhaps sick or dead, thought the office should check it out. October 30 Lady with little boy. has minor facial laceration, needs sutured, her doctor’s office is closed today, doesn’t want an ambulance; asked where she can go, was advised to take the child to the hospital. Lady reported a lost wallet, hand-tooled leather with initials “E G.” carved on it, could have lost it at Augsburger’s yesterday or today. A unit checked at the
police department. It was not there. Subject asked if an ambulance could lake a lady in a hip cast to the doctor for a routine check up. Advised her; affirmative but it would cost between $35 and SSO. Man living on channel near Frog Tavern called, he will be gone until May, asked if a unit could check his house. Witt on USS Long Beach in Indian Ocean Seaman Recruit Tim A. Witt, Son of Robert F. and Donna L. Witt of r 2 box 906 Syracuse, is currerMly on an extended deployment in the Western Pacific and Indian Ocean. He is assigned to the nuclearpowered guided missile cruiser USS Long Beach, homeported in San Diego. The one-month, routine excursion into the Indian Ocean is in keeping with U.S. policy of conducting naval operations in international waters and with previously announced intentions to operate ships periodically while in the Indian Ocean. A port visit is scheduled in Perth, Australia, during the cruise. Following the Indian Ocean cruise, WESTPAC-Indian Ocean Cruise will continue its deployment with the U.S. Seventh Fleet in the Western Fleet. Witt joined the Navy in September 1977. Revenue Sharing Funds A total of $42,000 is scheduled to be disbursed from Turkey Creek Township revenue sharing funds sometime in the near future, according to township trustee Joseph D. Shewmon. It will be broken down as follows: Syracuse Public Library — — Os this, $2,000 will go to the book fund, $2,000 to the equipment fund, and $16,000 to the library’s reserve fund. Os this latter amount a new boiler is being planned and the present building is to be winterized. Lakeland Youth Center — SIO,OOO. The Center’s board of directors plans an addition to its building in order to expand existing programs with emphasis on senior citizen and adult programs, according to Robert W. Knudsen, chairman of the board. Scout Cabin Board — $2,000. This board is made up of representatives of various groups, and a specific use of the funds has not been determined. WARE, Inc. - SB,OOO. Part of this money will be used for start up expenses such as architectural costs for the multiapartment senior citizen complex headed by Syracuse realtor David McGrew. The remainder is to be used as “seed money” for a government loan being sought to build the complex, which will be 32 units with a social center located on a three-acre tract of land WARE, Inc. purchased from C. J. Myers north of town. Trustee Shewmon said, even with these disbursements, the township’s revenue sharing fund has a small balance.

TOTAL LOSS— This Chevrolet Nova was estimated a total loss by Milford firemen in a Monday afternoon fire on CR 150E near Milford. A possible short in the w iring caused the blaze. A recent caller in the home of Pastor and Mrs. Carl Shearer and family of Milford was Wayne Pope of Detroit, Mich. Mr. and Mrs. George Mosier of r 1 Milford left this week for Bradenton, Fla., where they will spend the winter. 24 YEARS AGO, NOV. 11.1954 Guests of Mrs. John Helminger S4OO damages to cornpicker A fire, requiring 600 gallons of water to extinguish and causing S4OO damage, was reported Monday at 3:12 p.m. from a cornfield located one-fourth mile east of US 6 on CR 29. Harlan Gardner was working in his cornfield when fodder blew into the muffler of the cornpicker, setting it afire. The Benton Township Fire Department was contacted and they helped in extinguishing the fire. Second Fire The junction of 950 N and the Syracuse-North Webster Road was the sight of a cornfield fire last Saturday at 2:30 p.m. Bob Hassee and Melvin Weaver were picking corn, when the cornpicker, driven by Weaver overheated and set the field afire. Weaver and Hassee, reportedly had the fire out before firemen arrived. Damage to the tractor was set at $25. Tractor Fire The Syracuse Fire Department was called to the Sam Bushong residence, one-half mile south of US 6 on CR 133, Monday at 5:49 p.m. The tractor fire, resulting from an overheated engine caused no damage and was extinguished before firemen arrived. Augsburger rates 100% State Senator John B. Augsburger (R-Syracuse) has been commended by the National Federation of Independent Business for his 100 per cent voting record on selected issues of importance to the small business community. The Federation further extended its appreciation for Senator Augsburger’s consistent support for the small business community and the jobs these businesses provide for area citizens.
