A preacher

If he’s young, he lacks experience; if his hair is gray he is too old. If he has five 6Fsix children, he has too many; if he has none he isn’t setting a good example. If his wife sings in the choir, she’s being forward; if not she is not interested in her husband's work If he notes, he has canned sermons and is dry; if he is extemporaneous, he’s too deep. If he spends too much time in his study, he neglects his people; if he visits, he’s a gadabout. If he is attentive to the poor, he’s playing the grandstand; if to the wealthy, he’s trying to be the aristocrat. If he suggests improvements, he’s a dictator; if he doesn’t he s a figurehead. If he uses too many illustrations he neglects the Bible; if not enough, he’s not clear. If he condemns wrong, he is cranky; if he doesn’t he is a compromiser. If he preaches an hour, he’s windy; if less, he’s lazy. If he preaches the truth, he's offensive; if not he’s a hypocrite. If he fails to please everyone, he’s hurting the church; if he does please everyone, he has no convictions. If he preaches tithing, he’s a money grabber; if he doesn't, he’s failing to develop his people. If he receives a large salary, he's mercenary; if a small salary, it proves he’s not worth much. If he preaches all the time, the people get tired of hearing one man; if he invites guest preachers, he is shirking responsibility. And some folks think the preacher has an easy time — Author Unknown

The women of the Milford Christian Church are planning a ladies rally for Saturday, Nov. 4. All area women are invited to attend. * The rally will feature Karen Ladd as speaker, workshops, fellowship and a salad luncheon and craft display. Shown above are four women who are working on plans for the rally with a sampling of the craft items that will be on display. The display will be unique in the fact that each craft shown will also carry a notation telling how it is used by its creator as a Christian ministry. From left are Mrs. Max Beer, arts and crafts committee; Mrs. Dave Elliott, registration chairman; Mrs. Robert Greenwood, ladies aid president and general chairman for the rally; and Mrs. James Moore, crafts chairman. Last year ladies from several cities and towns in Indiana, Michigan and Illinois joined with women from the several churches of the Lakeland area in attending the women’s rally. Karen Ladd, whose husband Lee is in prison ministry in Indiana, will be the featured speaker. She
