1 YEAR AGO, OCT. 26,1977 Plans have been announced for the replacement of the Oakwood Park Hotel at Lake Wawasee, with a fund-raising project under way to raise $1,325,000. The Frog Tavern at Lake Wawasee has recently changed ownership. As of the first of October, Wayne Van Curen of Warsaw and Bill Snyder of Syracuse have taken over the ownership from Ray and Lou Yoder. The Syracuse Parent-Teachers organization is sponsoring its annual Halloween carnival, tonight. Rich Stoller, well-known builder of homes and owner of Horizons Unlimited Real Estate Co., welcomes Nancy Blade as new sales manager. 5 YEARS AGO, OCT. 24.1973 A 1967 Ford, operated by Harold R. Huff, r 2, Syracuse, was demolished last Friday when it struck a culvert and flipped upside down into the bedroom of a house owned by Mel Collier south of Syracuse. Thomas Gilbert is the new city Civil Defense Director at Syracuse replacing Charles Vanderveer. The Syracuse town plan commission will meet Nov. 8 to consider a petition of Donald Gardner for a certificate of approval of the preliminary plat to be known as Sea view Estates. Emery Druckamiller, former Syracuse resident and outstanding athlete for Syracuse High School, was honored last Saturday during half time ceremonies at the Indiana-Ohio State University game. 10 YEARS AGO, OCT. 23,1968 Cindy Felts, 18, r 4, Syracuse, and Betsy Buis, 17, North Webster, were taken to Goshen Hospital Saturday following a one-car accident on SR 13 south. Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Folk, who have lived at 212 W. Brooklyn, Syracuse, for 40 years, are observing their 60th wedding anniversary today. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Powers, r 1, Syracuse, are the parents of triplet sons born recently in Elkhart Hospital. There are seven other children in the family, including twin girls. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Darr, W. E. Long Dr., Syracuse have gone to Melbourne Beach, Fla. to spend the winter months.

A two car collision, resulting in $3,550 damage and minor injuries occured last Wednesday morning (9:06 a.m.) at the intersection of Wood St. and North Huntington St., Syracuse.
