'Continents on the move,' Audubon society program

“Continents on the Move” is the title for the October 24 program meeting of the Tippecanoe Audubon Society to be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Counting House mall in Warsaw. Dr. Wilson Lutz, professor of chemistry at Manchester College, will present this program which includes evidence gathered in recent years that the continents are not stable. Lutz, who teaches geology in addition to chemistry, will use slides and transparencies to explain the concept of plate tectonics. Geologically speaking, the Atlantic Ocean is relatively young and New Jersey perhaps only recently parted company with the African continent. Some theories today suggest that Los Angeles is moving toward Alaska. Dr. Lutz will discuss these and other theories related to the concept of continental drift. The public is welcomed at all the Tippecanoe Audubon Society activities.
