Sabrina Sue Hatfield becomes bride of J. Chris Scarbeary
Sabrina Sue Hatfield became the bride of J. Chris Scarbeary in a 2 o’clock ceremony on the afternoon of September 10. The double-ring ceremony took place in the Calvary United Methodist Church at Syracuse with Rev. Donald Sheline officiating. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Neva Sexton of Syracuse and Dale Hatfield of Warsaw. The bridegroom is. the son of Alice Scarbeary of Syracuse. Mr. and Mrs. David Coy of Syracuse served the couple as best man and matron of honor. The couple is residing in the Coris School reunion Oct. 1 The Caris School reunion, with a noon dinner, will be held at the park on N. Nappanee St. in Nappanee on October 1. Anyone who has attended Caris School is welcome to attend. Take a covered dish for lunch, and own table service.

Her husband is a graduate of Wawasee High School and is a foreman at Premiere. Fall Fellowship Day Set at Timbercrest The Timbercrest Home (Church of the Brethren) Auxiliary, North Manchester, will observe the 10th anniversary of the home and honor the coming December 31 retirement of administrator Orville Sherman during the Fall Fellowship Day program Saturday, Sept. 30. Events of the day will be as follows: 9 a m. — Fellowship hour and bazaar 10 a.m. — Auxiliary business and worship 1:15 p.m. — Program, “The Good ’Ole Days” followed by lawn reception honoring the Shermans.
Frauhigers to celebrate 50th wedding anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Frauhiger of Warsaw will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday, Oct. 1. Their children, Herman, and Mrs. Thomas (Donna) Keough, will host an open house at the Frauhiger home, 310 North Buffalo, from 2-4 o’clock in the afternoon. Herman Frauhiger and the Twilighters meet in Bitner home Members of the Twilighters Bunco Club at Syracuse met last Wednesday evening in the home of Mrs. Gerald Bitner, with Mrs. Delbert Whitehead assisting. Mrs. Bill Eyer, president, presided for the brief business meeting. High for the evening went to Mrs. Tim Darr; low, Mrs. Donald Niles; and travel and door prize, Mrs. James Mench. Birthday gifts went to Mrs. Eyer and Mrs. Stanley Grimes. Mrs. Robert Moser received an anniversary gift. Mrs. Charles Searfoss will entertain for the next meeting on October 18 with Mrs. Warren Benson as co-hostess.

Shelly Cart becomes bride of David Wollman Aug. 19
Shelley Anne Cart and David Otto Wollman were married at 7:30 o’clock on the evening of August 19 in the Redeemer Lutheran Church at Warsaw. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Cart of 14739 CR 42 Millersburg and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Wollman of r 5 box 144 Syracuse. Rev. John Ricker, pastor of the Redeemer Church officiated at the double ring ceremony in the presence of 175 guests before an altar decorated with an arrangement of pink carnations, white roses and white gladiolus and the unity candle. Mr. and Mrs. Michael Wollman were vocalists. They sang “The , Wedding Song” and “First Corinthians 13.” Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose a gown of chiffon with Venise lace marking the neckline and waistband. Venise lace also edged the gown’s train. She wore a picture hat with Venise late trim and floor-length netting. She carried a bouquet of white roses surrounded with white stephanotis. Mrs. Brett Troeger served as matron of honor. Her gown was of light pink with a ruffle at the collar. It was floor-length and in a wrap-around style with tie in the back. She wore a pink picture hat and carried a bouquet of white carnations, pink roses and baby’s breath with burgandy streamers. Mrs. Edward Cart and Miss

former Dorothy Clase were united in marriage on September 28, 1928, in Warsaw by Rev. Thomas Bean of the Methodist Church. All friends and relatives are invited to attend the open house event. The couple requests gifts be omitted. Janet Brubaker included in 'Outstanding Women' Janet Lee Brubaker, daughter of former Milford residents Mr. and Mrs. Forest L. Ramser, was selected for inclusion in the 1978 edition of Outstanding Young Women of America. The family now resides in Athens, Ga. The Outstanding Young Women of America program is designed to honor and encourage exceptional young women who have proved themselves in their homes, careers and communities. If selected as one of the 10 national winners, Mrs. Brubaker will be honored at an annual awards luncheon this fall in Washington D.C.
Lyn Wysong were bridesmaids. They wore gowns and hats identical to the matron of honor’s and carried like bouquets. John Fisher of Milford served as best man. Groomsmen were Andy Wollman of Syracuse and Bruce Korenstra of Milford. Ushers were Edward Cart of New Paris and Jeff and Jerry Rhodes of Warsaw. The mother of the bride wore a light blue quianna gown in floorlength design. The bridegroom’s mother wore an off white quianna gown with lace sleeves. Both had corsages of pink carnations and white roses. A buffet dinner was served at the Elks Club following the ceremony. Serving were Mrs. Devon Bontrager, Mrs. Tom Hire, Mrs. Bruce Korenstra and Miss Teresa Gross. Virginia Fisher attended the guest book. Gifts were received by Mrs. Dave Fisher and Mrs. Pete Garber. Following a honeymoon trip to Mackinack Island in Michigan the couple is residing in Indianapolis. The bride is a graduate of Fairfield High School and attended Ferris State College in Big Rapids, Mich., and Goshen College. She is employed by Holiday Inn as an executive secretary. Her bridegroom is a graduate of Wawasee High School and is a senior at Indiana Central College where is is majoring in physical education and business.

Walter Scranage reunion Sunday Mrs. Hazel Kline of Milford was among the 50 persons attending the Walter Scranage family reunion on Sunday at Sunnyside Park in New Paris. Guests from Indianapolis, Chicago, Muncie, Fort Wayne, Angola, Ashley, Ligonier, Nappanee, Elkhart, Syracuse and Milford enjoyed the carry-in meal and social afternoon. The reunion will meet in 1980 in the same location.

Haney honored at open house Sunday Kenneth Haney of r 2 Milford was honored by an open house on Sunday by his wife. Galen Haney and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Cotton and Terry were unable to attend the affair honoring their father and grandfather because of illness. 'Good Parenting' is topic for Rev. Philip Frew Rev. Philip Frew, pastor of Saint Andrew’s United Methodist Church, was the guest speaker at the regular meeting Monday night of the Lakeland Concerned Citizens Committee, Inc, at Wawasee High School. His topic, “Good Parenting”, was an informative program on the responsibilities of parents toward their children, and a look at guidelines. The business meeting was conducted by the president, Mrs. William Jones. The annual meeting of the group is scheduled for October 23, with Kosciusko County Sheriff John Hammersley as guest speaker. 'Haiti' is CRC topic Mrs. Larry Haney spoke and presented slides of the trip to Haiti with the United Methodist Church work group at the meeting of the Columbian Reading Circle of Milford on Monday evening, Sept. 25. The club met in the home of Mrs. Elmer Sorensen, Milford. The meeting was opened by the president, Mrs. Max Duncan. The club collect was read in unison. A short business meeting was conducted after which the slides were shown. Refreshments of apple cake, nuts and mints were served to 14 members and two guests. The two guests were Mrs. Bruce Bultemeier and Mrs. Tom Sorenson, daughter and daughter-in-law of Mrs. Elmer Sorenson. The next meeting will be October 9 with Mrs. Katherine Patterson as hostess. The program will be given by Mrs. Karl Keiper. Ron Hanson attends confab PERRYSBURG, OHIO - Ronald Hanson, FIC, of 601 N. Harrison St., Syracuse, was among approximately 110 Lutheran Brotherhood field representatives who attended a sales conference September 18-19 at the Ramada Inn, Perrysburg, Ohio. Hanson is a member of Lutheran Brotherhood’s Dale Couture Agency, headquartered in Fort Wayne. Members of 10 agencies from Ohio, Michigan and Indiana were present at the conference. Workshops were held dealing with the conference theme, “Sharing Successful Ideas.” In addition to leading Lutheran Brotherhood field representatives, speakers included Clifford Knudten, vice president, Lutheran Brotherhood Securities Corp.
Bethel Women Q elect officers The Bethel Women’s Fellowship, Milford, met on September 14, in the church fellowship room. After the business meeting, Mrs. Earl Hostetter from the New Paris Church of the Brethren led in the installation of officers. Bridge-0-Rama has kick off The 1978-79 LakelandJ3ridge-O-Rama kicked off 'tfie season Monday night at the Lancelot Lounge in North Webster. Dinner and a short business meeting preceded an evening of enthusiastic bridge playing. Blanche Thornburg, Max Ellen Medich and Nora Kirkwood were high scorers for the women, while David Robinson, Lou Kuilema and Dr. G. W. Stalter scored for the men. Proceeds of the Bridge-O-Rama are donated to worthwhile charities.
