p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16. The double ring ceremony took place in Saint Paul’s Catholic Church in Marion. The bride was given in marriage by her brother, Chris Long, of Fort Wayne. The bride’s sister, Linda Long of Indianapolis, served as maid of honor, and four other sisters, Ann Gorey, Jane Finch, Cynthia Jarrett and Marnie Golden, acted as bridesmaids. The other bridesmaid was the bride’s sister-in-law, Jan Long. Best man Was Douglas Waltz of Indianapolis. Groomsmen were Mark Hoffman, Charles Gorey, John Jarrett, Neil Golden, and the bride’s brother, David Long. Ushers were Ted Moreillon and Harry Finch. A reception in the Meshingomesia Country Club in Marion followed the ceremony. The couple will reside in Muncie where the bridegroom is a student at Ball State University and is employed by Trapp Accounting firm. His wife, a graduate of Marion High School and Ball State University, is teaching at Marion High School. A baked potato will taste better if you stick it with a fork a few times before baking so the steam can escape more easily.

Mrs. Philip Beer entertains for Silver Thimbles The September meeting of the Silver Thimble Club of the Milford Apostolic Christian Church was held Monday, Sept. 11, in the home of Mrs. Philip Beer. Mrs. Arnold Doll was assistant hostess. At the meeting a contest was held to raise money for two hospital patients. Mrs. Howard Beer and Mrs. Lewis Speicher won prizes for the contest. Guests at the meeting were Mrs. Theo Beer and Mrs. Richard Steffen and daughter, Monica. Mrs. Robert Cockburn read “Psalm 37“ and “Trusting In Jesus” for devotions. The hymn “’Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus" was sung in unison. Work was done on a quilt and refreshments were served by Mrs. Stoller and Heather Beer. In place of the October meeting, an auction sale will be held at the Milford Apostolic Church hall on the evening of October?. New officers for Guild New officers of the Enchanted Hills Playhouse Theatre Guild will be installed at the Guild’s final meeting of the season tomorrow (Thursday). The event will be a luncheon meeting at the South Shore Golf Club at 12:30 p.m. Attending will be Robert Zehr and Douglas Stark, directors of the playhouse, and Jerry Zehr, playhouse manager. Installed as president will be Verna Knauer, replacing Kay Franke. Other new officers installed will be: Joanne Gans — vice president Jeanne Gardiner — secretary Barbara Grumme — treasurer Junior Momms hove carry-in The Junior Mothers Club of Syracuse met Monday evening for their annual carry-in supper in the home of Mrs. William (Jeanne)Jones. Mrs. Steve (Pat) Bartow, Mrs. Charles (Ann) Haffner and Mrs. Carl (Kay) Meditch assisted the hostess. A total of 24 members and one guest, Mrs. James (Sarah) Kroh were present. The president, Mrs. Jones, presided over the meeting. A report was given on the calendar sales. Mrs. Hubert (Evie) Kirkdorfer received the super salesman award for the second consecutive year for selling 82 calendars. The evening ended with the revealing of last year’s “secret pals”. The next meeting will be held October 16 in the home of Mrs. Jack (Carol) Clark.

TO WED — Mr. and Mrs. Max A. Blackburn of r 1 Mentone, announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Debra, to James R. McFadden, son of Dr. and Mrs. Orville L. McFadden, r 1 Claypool. Debra is a 1977 graduate of Tippecanoe Valley High School and employed as billing clerk in the office of Midwest Spring Manufacturing Company in Mentone. Her fiance is a 1976 graduate of Tippecanoe Valley High School and a 1978 graduate of International Business College. He is employed as an accountant at Maple Leaf Farms in Milford. A September 30 wedding is being planned. UM Women hear of Haiti The local unit of the United Methodist Women met in the home of Mrs. Glen Treesh; cohostess was Mrs. Frank Anderson. Mrs. Richard Roose opened the meeting with devotions. Mrs. Don Ahrns introduced the guest speakers. Miss Julie Garza and Miss Linda Perry. While speaking of their experiences in Haiti, slides were being shown of their hospital work and of young people living in the island country. Miss Garza and Miss Perry also displayed interesting crafts native to Haiti. Many activities were discussed during the business meeting. The annual bazaar will be held November 10 and 11. The meeting was adjourned with the next meeting to be October 12 at 9 a.m. in the home of Mrs. William Motts. Tippy bridge winners named The Tippecanoe Country Club ladies bridge club met September 13 with 11 tables playing. Hostesses were Mrs. 8.4 K. Sharp, Mrs. Florence Stalter and Mrs. Wayne Bucher. Adult classes begin Oct. 9

The Lakeland Community School Corporation is inviting area adults to take part in the adult education program at Wawsasee High School. The program provides an opportunity for adults to continue their education interests and upgrade skills. Two sessions will be held this year. One in October and one in January. The October session will begin on October 9 with registration on October 2. Any person at least 16 years of age, who is not enrolled in the regular school program, may enroll in the adult education courses. The October 2 registration will be in room 300 between 6:30 and 8 p.m. Daytime registration may be completed at the high school anytime before October 9. Both credit and non-credit classes will be held. The non-credit classes will consist of upholstery, beginning art, speed reading, euto mechanics. home repair, beginning typing, fundamentals of outboard engines, aviation

Brandy Lehman weds Lawrence Stoffel

Saint Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Syracuse was the setting at 2 p. m. August 26 for the wedding of Miss Brandy Lee Lehman, r 5 Syracuse, and Lawrence Wayne Stoffel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Joseph Stoffel, r 2 Syracuse. The bride’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. John Bradley Lehman of Fort Wayne. Rev. Kenneth Sarrazine performed the double ring ceremony. Charles Taylor was the organist. The altar was decorated with vases of roses and carnations. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white ballroom gown, made with rayon lace bodice and sheer skirt with Venice lace trimmings. Her train was of sheer and Venice lace, and she wore a plain veil with roses and carnations in her hair. Her bouquet was of silk flowers, peach roses and white carnations. Miss Sheerree Arthur of Syracuse attended the bride as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Susan Lehman of Fort Wayne and Mrs. Dennis Parshall of Coldwater, Mich., and the flower girl was Linda Lehman of Fort Wayne. All the attendents wore coral sleeveless polyester knit dresses with sheer caplet in floral print. They carried silk flowers in roses and carnations. John Stoffel of North Webster served as best man. Groomsmen were Don Hasse of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Frank Stoffel of Syracuse; ringbearer was Charles Allen Lehman of Fort Wayne; and ushers were Dave Stoffel, Billy Lehman and Johnny Lehman. The bride’s mother wore a powder blue polyester sleeveless dress, with a matching longsleeved lace jacket. The bridegroom’s mother wore a mint green polyester sleeveless dress with matching caplet. They wore corsages of peach roses and white carnations.

ground school, beginning guitar, creative writing, business etiquette, checkbook balancing (a short two week course), lawn and gardening, jogging and woodworking. High school classes for credit will be basic written English, social studies and conversational Spanish. Persons interested in courses that may apply toward a high school diploma should contact a high school counselor and the vocational office. Three continuing education courses will be offered along with the fall classes. They are adult basic education, bi-lingual instruction and the General Education Development test preparation. These three courses will be offered free to students with books and supplies being the only cost. All classes will be limited to those with enough enrollments to form a class. Brochures are being placed in businesses and are being sent home with elementary children in the school system on the classes.

A reception was served immediately after the wedding in Camelot Hall in North Webster, with a buffet style luncheon. The Jay Kitson band provided the entertainment, with rock music. Servers were Mrs. Daniel Henson and Mrs. Gary Combs, both of Syracuse, and Miss Jeanette Siler of Fort Wayne. The newly-weds are residing at Dewart r 5 Syracuse. Mrs Stoffel is employed at Thornburg’s Drug in North Webster. Her husband works at the North Webster Lumber Yard, in the family business. GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY — Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Rader of r 5 Syracuse (Dewart Lake) celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner in an area restaurant. Rader and the former May Deal were married September 18 at Woodland. They have resided in Wyatt in Saint Joseph County and at Dewart Lake for the past 14 years. Among the many congratulatory messages received by the couple was one from President and Mrs. Jimmv Carter.

Hawaii theme for Round Table

Ladies of the Round Table held their fall party on Monday evening, Sept. 11, at Calvary United Methodist Church in Syracuse. A carry-in salad buffet was arranged by hostesses Eloyce VanLue, Celia Beckman. Edith Brice, Anna Chance and June Laudeman. In keeping with the theme for the evening, “A Trip to the Hawaiian Islands,” table decorations consisted of decorative baskets of pineapple and other fresh fruits and exotic floral arrangements. Members came attired in mau maus and each was presented a lei as she arrived. Howard and Joyce Gindleberger of South Bend, showed movies of their recent trip to the Hawaiian Islands and described some of the beautiful
