county post to accept a position with the State Board of Health. The resignation is effective on September 17, however, Pound finished his work on Thursday of

last week and is vacationing until his due starting date with the state department. His new position will involve inspection of wholesale and manufacturing of food establishments in a 15 county area in northwestern Indiana, including Kosciusko County. Over the years, Pound, a lifelong resident of the area, has had duties of inspecting retail food establishments, issuing permits, enforcement of sewage and housing ordinances, and investigations of numerous complaints pertaining to health. Looking Forward In a conversation with Pound, he said he felt the new position was a challenge and an advancement. A graduate of Leesburg High School in 1951, he attended Purdue University where he graduated in 1958 with a bachelor s degree in agricultural economics. Pound had a service stint with the US Army from 195456. He is a member of the Leesburg Methodist Church and

A farmer in his spare time, he and his family live on a 300 acre farmstead owned by the Pound family since 1870. His wife is the former JoAnn Reed of Warsaw and they have three daughters and one son. Terrie, 23, is a registered nurse at Bluffton Clinic who was married on Saturday; Mrs. Doug (Karen) Conley, 21, lives at Muncie; Mrs. Jim (Linda) Howard, 18, resides at North Manchester; and son Jeff, 18, is a senior at Warsaw Community High School. Milford man arrested Aramdo Parales, 28, of Milford, was jailed last week in the Kosciusko County jail on a charge of driving under the influence of intoxicating beverages and public intoxication. He was held on SIOO bond.
