14 YEARS AGO, AUG. 27,1964 Steve Roderick, a Milford high school graduate and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Roderick of Milford, has signed a contract to be Lakeland Community School Corporation elementary physical education teacher. He will also coach golf and junior high basketball at Syracuse. Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Slabaugh of Milford attended open house of Mr. and Mrs. Harve Staley in Nappanee Sunday afternoon. It was Mr. and Mrs. Staleys’ 60th wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Ryman of Milford were in Fort Wayne on Monday. They celebrated their wedding anniversary by dining at the Embers. 24 YEARS AGO. SEPT. 2,1'954 Mr. and Mrs. Norman Hostetler have moved into the Arthur Keefer property, corner of First and Henry streets. Mr. Hostetler is a new member of the Milford school faculty. Recent callers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Beer were Mr. and Mrs. John Fuhrer and Misses Elizabeth and Clara Wahl, of Mansfield, 0., Mr. Fuhrer is Mr. Beer’s nephew. Postal Forum set for Sept. 10-13
More than 3,000 delegates from the 50 states, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Canada are expected to attend National Postal Forum XII, to be held September 10 through 13 at the Washington Hilton Hotel. Co-chairmen of the eveqt will be Joseph P. Flannery, Prescient and Chief Operating Officer of Uniroyal, Inc., and Postmaster General William F. Bolger. The Postal Forum is an annual meeting of postal officials and major mail users to discuss programs and generate ideas for improving postal services and adapting the system to changing communications needs. The theme of this year’s Forum is “Partnership for Progress.” Delegates will attend a variety of seminars, panel discussions, general sessions and workshops, and will hear talks by top postal officials and leading American businessmen. Panel participants will include representatives of mail systems in Great Britain, Canada, Germany, Sweden and Switzerland. Forum Co-Chairman Flannery brings to the meeting an impressive background in scientific experimentation and planning. A graduate of Lowell Technological Institute, he earned his MBA at Harvard and joined the Uniroyal company in 1959 as a research chemist. He progressed through a number of 15-year-olds take vehicles Two 15-year-old Syracuse boys were apprehended by Michigan State Police at White Pigeon Wednesday night, Aug. 16, with a car they reportedly took from Syracuse during the night. The car was stolen from the Gerald Kline residence, 118 N. Shore Dr., Syracuse.

Duker, Milford pastor, delivered a humorous talk to the Goshen Rotary club before their Friday noon luncheon at Hotel Goshen. Rev. Duker, a member of the club is capable of speaking seriously on religious or everyday topics and can likewise give a highly humorous talk. Mr. and Mrs. Donald DeFries, and family of Berrien Springs, Mich., spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Howard Love and Mr. and Mrs. Arch DeFries. Walter W. Krider, of Milford, who served in army intelligence interviewing Japanese prisoners during the recent war will feature a talk on “The Future of the Japanese’’ before the Exchange Club of Goshen at their regular meeting Thursday, Sept. 9, at 6:15 p.m. in the main dining room of Hotel Goshen. 60 YEARS AGO, SEPT. 5,1918 Mr. and Mrs. John Tom, Mr.

In March, 1977, he was named Executive Vice President of Uniroyal, Inc., in which capacity he was responsible for its corporate strategic planning, research and development. He also held worldwide responsibility for the Chemical, Plantations and Textiles Divisions of Uniroyal. Mr. Flannery is a director of First of Boston Compute‘ristics, Inc. and of a number of other companies in America and abroad. Co-Chairman Bolger is a career postal employee, who joined the Postal Service as a clerk in 1941 and rose through the ranks to become the 65th Postmaster General in a line of succession that began with Benjamin Franklin in 1775. He is also a member of the Board of Governors of the Postal Service. Car hit from rear Approximately S4OO in damages were estimated .in a two-vehicle mishap on SR 13 three miles south of Syracuse last Friday afternoon. There were no personal injuries. * Marshall Minnick, 16, r 4 Syracuse, slid into the rear of a vehicle operated by Violetta Stover, 52, of Cromwell, as the Stover woman stopped on the main highway to make a left turn. Kosciusko County officers reported S3OO damage to the Minnick vehicle and SIOO to the Stover car.

Myers and family who reside on their farm near Brookston, came to Milford on Thursday of last week to visit Mrs. Myers’ mother, Mrs. Cyrus Fuller. Miss Helen Vanderveer who has been teaching at Goshen, was tendered a position in college work at Mount Clemens, Michigan, at a much increased salary, but the authorities at Goshen would not consent to her leaving.
