LWBA to have * workshop Aug. 21 The Lakeland Women’s Bowling Association will have a salad bar and workshop for LWBA officers, league officers and interested members at the Wawasee Bowl, south of Syracuse, on Monday evening, Aug. 21, at 7 o’clock. Secretary-treasurer Kathryn Knisley stated that attendance to
the salad bar is by reservation only. Reservation deadline is August 17. The workshop will follow at 7:30 p.m. and no reservations are required. Football season begins Friday
The Wawasee High School football season will get underway Friday night at North Wood with the annual Jamboree. Participating schools will be Northridge, Plymouth, North Wood and Wawasee. Gates will open at 6:30 p.m. with the game starting at 7:30. North Wood and Northridge will team up against Wawasee and Plymouth. North Wood will meet Wawasee in the first quarter with Northridge playing Plymouth in the second quarter. North Wood and Plymouth will clash in the opening period of the second half and Northridge and Wawasee will finish the game. Ticket prices are $2 for adults and $1 for students and will be sold on both the east and west sides of the field. Pre-school children accompanied by parents will be admitted free. Northridge and North Wood will have the west bleachers with Plymouth and Wawasee on the east side of the field.

TICKETS ON SALE The Wawasee High School athletic department will be selling all-school athletic tickets and football season tickets for both students and adults the week of August 2125 in the bookstore from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. As a convenience to adults and students who cannot get their tickets during regular hours, the athletic department will sell tickets on Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 22 and 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the bookstore. All-event tickets (60 events) for students in grades K-12 will sell for >l2. Adult tickets are >2O. Football season tickets for students are >4 and >6~ for adults. Reserve seats are >1.50 extra. Session tickets for varsity football will be >1 for students (pre-sale only), and >1.50 for gate tickets. Admission prices for other fall sports is 50 cents for students and >1 for adults.
Bus Schedule Buses will leave the several schools in the corporation on the following schedule : 6:15 p.m. — North Webster 6:30 p.m. — Syracuse 6:45 p.m—Milford Students should board buses and pay the driver 50 cents. Men's County bowling league starts Aug. 28 The Men’s County Bowling League at Wawasee Bowl in Syracuse will start the 1978-79 season on Monday, Aug. 28, at 7:30 p.m., according to an announcement this week by Loren Longenbaugh, secretary of the league, of 542 S. Main St. Some people once believed that shooting arrows under a fruit tree would cause the fruit to fall off the tree just as the arrows fell.
— The Sport Spot. The team finished the season in first place in the Goshen league undefeated and went on to win the semi-state at Goshen before winning the state tourney in Mecca last week end. They now advance to the national class A finals to be played in Binghamton, N. Y., August 24-27. The New York tourney is a double elimination with 16 teams participating. Area women on the team are Phyllis Horvath, pitcher; Betsy Williams, catcher; and Tammy Schumn, short stop and left fielder. All three were members of the Wawasee High School team two years ago. Second annual pitch, hit and throw contest The Wawasee Kiwanis Club is sponsoring its second annual Pitch. Hit and Throw contest for all boys and girls that participated in the summer Little League program in Syracuse. It will be held Saturday, Aug. 19, at Rotary Field starting at 10 a.m.

They defeated Cromwell 15-1, Avilla 22-3 and got by Ligonier in the championship game 19-7. They finished the season with a 13-2 record v\ith both losses being to Milford.
