Milford pony league has father, son game
The Milford Pony League boys played their fathers on Sunday in a father — son game. The fathers won 8-7. The boys took a lot of extra base hits and pinch runners to get the dads around the bases. One report stated Bob Auer hit a home run but only made it to third base. No one got hurt in the game except Bob Greenwood, who is missing a front cap from his tooth Football clinic set at Milford The Northern Indiana Officials Association will conduct a football rules clinic on Monday. Aug. 14. at 7:30 p.m. at the Milford Junior High School. All officials, coaches, and interested parties are invited to attend the clinic. Association vice president Tom Howard attended the recent football interpretation meeting held by the IHSAA and will conduct the program. LWBA meets Monday, set tourney Members of the Lakeland Women's Bowling Association met Monday evening, Aug. 7, in the Milford Fire Station. President Barbara Miller was in charge of the business meeting. Rosemary Gerrity, delegate, reported on the annual meeting of the Women’s International Bowling Congress held in Miami, Fla., the last of April. Association high game winners were announced. Jane Love with a 231 game was high in the 150 and below average group. Susie Kern who was in the 151 and above average group was high with 278. Local tournament rules were voted upon by the membership. The tourney was set for the week of February 12-18.1979. Freshman cheerleader tryouts held All incoming freshmen students who are attending Wawasee High School this fall and who are interested in trying out for freshman cheerleader, are to meet Monday. Aug. 21, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in room 101. This is an important organizational meeting prior to the election to be held on September 5. Physical forms will be distributed and a practice schedule discussed. Also a cheerleader handbook will be presented. If a student is unable to attend this meeting due to an unavoidable conflict, please contact school officials at the high school. Parents are welcome! Varsity cheerleaders and sponsors, Janet Keim and Kathy White, will be in attendance.

as the result of a play made at home plate. Most of the dads were reported to be a little stiff on Monday morning. After the game, the boys received awards for the tourney Milford won, and three boys received outstanding awards for season play. Mark Greenwood received the batting trophy. Pat Speicher was named most valuable player. Mike LeCount received the Hustle award. The afternoon was topped off with a picnic. The fathers who played were Bob Auer, Fred Weisser, Dick Dahlstrom, Dave Siegfried, Pete Doll, Bob LeCount, Oscar Pena. Kenny Goshert. Bob Greenwood, Levi Beer and Pat Speicher. ( I GoH Vis \ B A two-week golf tournament for ladies was held at the South Shore golf course in Syracuse. August 1 and 8. The tournament “Four Man Best Ball Tournament ” was an 18 and nine hole tourney. Winners were: First team — Jackie Wortinger. Maxine Fuller. Ethel Hughes and Stella Heckaman Second place was a tie — Lee Wake, Jinny DeWitt, Patty Norman and Billie Gross and Sandy Walgamuth, Brenda Kuhn, Pearl Herrman, Coreen Fuller (substitute) and Joanne Gans Fourth place - Joan Grey. Peg Armstrong, Margo Koehlinger and Olive Locke Ten teams of a total of 40 women participated in the tournament. Tuesday Night Ladies organize The Tuesday Night Ladies Bowling League met Tuesday evening at Wawasee Bowl. Syracuse, for its annual organizational meeting. Pam Smith, president, was in charge of the business meeting. First night of bowling in the 33 week schedule was set for August 29at 9p.m. Committees appointed by the president were as follows: Spring banquet — Lake of the Valley team. Julie Hickman captain Prize - Joan Hoover. Pam Smith and Jackie Wortinger Rules - Sherry Brown. Faye Church and Debbie Lovellette Scheduling — Jackie Wortinger. Barbara Miller and Joy Hostetler Association banquet — Sharon Gilbert, chairman, with team captains or a representative from each team Junior bowling representative - Barbara Miller Jackie Wortinger, league secretary, reported that individual bowlers are needed to fill some of the teams and there is an opening for another team.
