Syracuse, and the North Webster United Methodist Church are jointly sponsoring a youth choir, known as "The Sonlight Singers”, which will appear at the Syracuse church on Saturday, Aug. 12. at 7:30 p.m. and at the North Webster church at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 13. .The Sonlight Singers, under the direction of Sandra Cain, are a non-denominationai group of young people ranging in age of 16 to 28 and reside in the Rockford — Loves Park. 111., area. They are a volunteer group, operating only in the summer. The month of June is spent rehearsing for the performances they give in various churches throughout July and the first two weeks of August. Representing many churches, the members are united by a love of music and a desire to tell of His love through song. This year’s performance is “Festival of Praise” by Thurlow Spurr and published by Lexicon Music, Inc., a division of Word Music.

Church women meet

The WCSC of the Syracuse Church of God met in the home of Ethel Hamilton last week for the August meeting. There were 15 members and three children in attendance. Kathryn Hibschman opened the meeting with a poem entitled, “What Have You Done for the Lord in WCSC?” Ruby Stutzman gave the opening prayer, followed by group singing of the theme song,

“We Are One.” A household hint was given as response to roll call. Committee reports were given and a gift received from Mrs. Nell Mishler for Banglidash. The Mission box is being prepared for September. Donna Wolf presented the program, “We Are One in His Love.” Scriptures were read and Betty Kern gave a report. Special prayer requests were led by Pauline Firestone.

The workshop at Finley will be held in two weeks, and those planning to attend are to make necessary arrangements as soon as possible. Officer installation will be held at the September meeting in fellowship hall, with Sally Stutzman as hostess. Refreshments were served by the hostess at the close of the meeting.
