Kevin Smith, together combined for the 11 victories. In the hitting department, Ron Cripe had 15 hits in 32 times at bat, and Ron Dickerhoof collected 14 hits in 32 at bat. Fielding was a high point in the Yellow Jackets success as they turned over eight double plays during the season. Camelot ski team sets five new state records

Members of the Camelot ski team won five individual overall awards and set five new state records to make their club the top club in the state, during the state meet held last week end. The Rollie Williams Memorial state tournament event was held at Nellans Lake, Warsaw. Milford Pony League wins first tourney

The Milford Pony League won the first tourney of the LakelandFairfield League. Milford traveled to Fairfield on Tuesday and won 14-2. Mark Greenwood and Ross Dahlstrom had doubles and Greg Weisser, Eric Beer and Rick Pena all had singles. Pat Speicher was the winning pitcher. Pat gave up Only one hit and Rick Pena gave up only one hit in relief. On Thursday Milford played Syiacuse in the finals at Wawasee High School and won 73. Milford jumped out in the first inning with a 6-0 score. Mike LeCount led off with a triple and Jay Auer a single, driving in LeCount. Speicher walked and Greenwood singled. Then Ross Dahlstrom doubled to drive in Speicher and Greenwood. Eric Beer walked and Greg Weisser had a two-run single before WAWASEE HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL CALL OUT SET , Any boy in grades 10-11-12 wishing to try out for the Wawasee High School football team for the 1978-79 season should report to the high school at 10 a.m. on Monday. Aug. 7. Boys are reminded that they must have a physical examination before they can practice. Forms may be picked up in the high school office any week day between 8 and 3. Those who have not made arrangements for shoes should contact Coach Hal Traviolia. Freshman Football Freshman football will start on Monday. Aug. 14, at 10 a.m. Boys interested in trying out should get their physicals and report to the gym at that time. Practices begin The Wawasee High School girls’ swim team will start practice at 8 a.m. August 7. Also starting practice soon is the girls’ golf team at Wawasee. They will begin practice at 8 a m. August 14 at Maxwelton Golf Course, Syracuse. Hook's reports record sales Hook Drugs, Inc., reports record sales for the first six months of 1978 ahead 12 per cent over the same period in 1977, or $86,025,972 compared to $76,639,018. Sales for the second quarter were $44,024,701 compared to $39,963,617. Record net earnings of $2,145,989 were reported for the first half, a 24 per cent increase over $1,730,059 last.: year. Net earnings for the second quarter of 1978 were $1,088,026 and $1,057,263 in 1977. Earnings per share increased to 74 cents for the first six months, a 14 cent increase over the 1977 figure of 60 cents. For the second quarter, they were 38 cents compared to 37 cents. Hook’s has an average of 2,891,698 shares of common stock outstanding. Hook’s recently opened a new store in Fort Wayne, their eighth new store this year. An existing store recently purchased in Bedford. This brings their total stores to 235 and all are located in the State of Indiana.

Syracuse got the side out. Both teams played good ball. Syracuse came up with three runs in the second, but failed to score in the rest of the game. Pat Speicher and Mike LeCount had triples and Ross Dahlstrom had a double. Jay Auer, Mark Greenwood and Greg Weisser all had singles. Syracuse had only two hits. Cripe and Dickenhqpf had singles. Greg Weisser was credited with the win and Dahlstrom, Pena and Pat Speicher pitched good in relief. Speicher struck out the side in the seventh to end the ball game. Milford finished the season with a 10-2 record. Syracuse league ties Milford The Syracuse Pony League tied Milford for the season Tuesday night, July 18, with a 6-5 win over Fairfield. Brian Brannock came through with a good pitching performance before giving way to Mark Detert who picked up his second win. Key hits during the contest were contributed by Ron Cripe, Dave Workman and Jeff Nicodemus. Excellent defensive play by Ron Cripe preserved the win and left Syracuse with a 10 win and two loss season.
