Mrs. Otto Miller Feb. 1,1905-July 3,1978 Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday,. July 6, in the Broadway Chapel near Cromwell for Mrs. MinnieA. Miller, 73, r 1, Kimmell, sister of Mrs. Margaret Miller of Syracuse, who died at 4:20 p.m. Monday, July 3, in Goshen Hospital. Born February 1, 1905, in Wyanet, 111., she had lived in the Cromwell-Kimmell area for 60 years. She was married March 4, 1924, in Rock Island, 111., to Otto Miller, who survives. Rev. Stephen Kiplinger, pastor of the Broadway Chapel, officiated. Burial at Sparta cemetery. The Ulrey Funeral Home in Ligonier was in charge of arrangements. Also surviving are a son, Phil of Kimmell; one daughter, Mrs. Lester (Joyce) Robinson, Cromwell; three grandchildren; -three brothers, Fred Poscharsky of Wolcottville, Herman Poscharsky of White House, Ohio, and Harold Poscharsky of Kimmell, and two sisters, Mrs. Florence Rarig of Graytown, Ohio, and Mrs., Miller of Syracuse. E. Clifton Spurrier Funeral services were held Saturday for Emmett Clifton Spurrier, 79, of r 1 Columbia City and step-father of Mrs. Hugh (Helen) Spear of Syracuse. Death came last Wednesday at his home in Columbia City. The deceased was born June 30, 1899, in Whitley County to William and Mary Amanda (Dupler) Spurrier. His marriage to Laura Helen (Smith) Perkins took place on June 1, 1940, and she preceded him in death August 21,1964. He was a retired employee of International Harvester, and engaged in general farming. Mr. Spurrier was a 30-year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Lodge 1906, and a member of International Harvester Quarter Century Club. In addition to the Syracuse

Syracuse Dismissals Mrs. Steven Richcreek and infant daughter, North Webster Lyndall Vernett, North Webster Births RICHCREEK, Kimberly Jo A baby girl, Kimberly Jo, was born at 11:17 p.m. Friday, July 7, in Goshen Hospital, to Mr. and Mrs. Steven Richcreek, r 1 North Webster. The Richcreeks also have another daughter, Christy, aged three and one-half. , Kimberly Jo weighed in at six pounds, 11 ounces., and is 20 l a inches long. Her maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Richcreek of North Webster, and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Frederick of Syracuse. There are also two greait-grandmothers, Maternal, Mrs. Lula Eirhart of Syracuse, and Mrs. Mabel Penn of North Webster. 1 Syracuse EMS Trent Fordyce, five r 3 Syracuse, was injured at 9:42 p.m. Thursday, July 6, when he fell face first on the concrete while riding on his father’s shoulders. He was taken to the Syracuse fire station by his father, Robert Fordyce. Ambulance crewmen checked the child over and advised the father to take him to a hospital for further treatment. He' had a bump on his head and pains in his abdomen. The ambulance was called at 10:07 p.m. Thursday, July 6, to 212 W. North St., but it turned out to be a false alarm. No one at that address had called the station. Ambulance crewmen were called at 3:51 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, when Gene J. Popowzak, 31, of South Bend, was injured in an auto accident a quarter mile east

Tara Mahorney May 14, 1978 — July 8, 1978 Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 9, at the New Paris cemetery, for Tara Anne Mahorney, two-month-old daughter of David and Susan (Rock) Mahorney, r 1 North Webster. Rev. Bruce Kinsey officiated. Arrangements were in the charge of the Harris Funeral Home of Syracuse. The infant was born May 14 in Goshen, and died at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 8, in her home of a birth defect. Surviving besides the parents are one brother, David Bruce III; the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Rock of New Paris, paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Ray of North Webster; and several greatgrandparents. Mrs. Merrill Stickel Feb. 6,1902-July 6,1978 . Mrs. Merrill (Dorothea) Stickel, 76, r 1 Milford, and Sebring, Fla., died at 4:50 a m. Thursday at Goshen Hospital where she was a patient 11 days. She was ill with a heart condition. - A native of Harrison Township, Mrs. Stickel was born February 6, 1902, a daughter of Amos and Minnie (Telsma) Nusbaum. She was a member of the Tourist Club in Sebring and was a member of the Bethany Church of the Brethren, New Paris. She married Merrill D. Stickel on January 22,1923. Mrs. Stickel moved 11 years ago to. the Milford area and to Sebring from Harrison Township. Surviving are Mr. Stickel; a son, Raymond Stickel, Goshen; three daughters, Mrs. Delbert (Erma) Cripe and Mrs. Wayne (Wilma) Clem, both of Elkhart, and Mrs. Lawrence (Neva) Drudge, Goshen; 14 grandchildren; and five great-

Michael Gardner, 25, r 1 box 1023 Cromwell, was treated by Syracuse ambulance crewmen at 4:39 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, when he suffered a laceration to his upper lip. He was advised to go to Goshen Hospital. At 10:46 a m. Wednesday, July 5, Genevieve Routson, 12, r 2 box 218 Syracuse, was injured when she caught her left foot in a lawn mower. Cromwell EMS r had treated her for lacerations. Syracuse EMS gave further treatment and took the girl to Goshen Hospital. Syracuse ambulance crewmen were called at 7:03 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, to r 4 box 153 Syracuse, where Harriet Teining. 90, had fallen and suffered a possible fracture of her left knee. Crewmen treated the lady and took her to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne. Kevin Ogburn, 18, r 1 Warsaw, was injured at 7:23 a m. Friday, July 7, when he caught his left hand in a grinder while at work at the Premiere Corp, plant. Workers said he passed out as he walked to the front office, hitting his chin on the bathroom sink. Syracuse ambulance crewmen took him to Kosciusko Community Hospital. Jan Evers, 45, r 1 Syracuse, was taken to Goshen Hospital in the Syracuse ambulance afbef she fell off the steps in a boat about two feet, at 5:09 p.m. Sunday, July 9. She complained ofsevere back pain. At 8:25 p.m. Sunday, July 9, Fred Troup, 21, box 205 Milford, came to the fire station for treatment after he fell off his motorcycle. He suffered pains in his elbow but refused to be hospitalized. Mrs. Fredetta Money, 59, of Medusa St., was taken to Goshen

Mabel Clause Oct. 11,1900 —July 9, 1978 Mrs. Mabel Clause, 77, of r 2 Attica, formerly of Milford and Nappanee, died unexpectedly of a heart attack at 5 p.m. Sunday at her summer home at Rossville. Mrs. Clause, who formerly owned and operated a beauty shop at Milford, was born October 11, 1900. at Milford to William and Prue (Butt) Bushong. Her marriage to John Clause occurred November 11, 1919. He died February 2,1941. Mrs. Clause was a mejnber of ths Jackson Heights United Methodist Church at Attica. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Eugene (Joanne) .Yarian, Attica; two sisters, Mrs. Edith Stookey, r 1 Milford. Mrs. William (Mary Ann) Rex, North Webster; two brothers, Joe and Robert Bushong, both of Stuart, Fla.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 3:30 this afternoon in the Mishler Funeral Home at Milford, with Rev. Carl Thompson officiating. Interment will be in the Milford cemetery. Agnes B. Gross Jan. 9,1902 — July 9,1978 Mrs. Agnes B. Gross, 76, of Leesburg died at 6 p.m. Sunday in the Strawberry Village Nursing Home at Ligonier, where she had been a patient since March 1977. Death was due to complications following an extended illness. A native of Leesburg, Mrs. Gross was born January 9, 1902, to John and Rosetta (Hcdderman) Ruple. In 1925 she was married to Donald Ferverda, who died in 1937. She was a lifetime resident of Leesburg and was formerly owner and operator of Burger stores at Goshen and Warsaw. At 7:41 a.m. Monday, July 10, ambulance crewmen were called to r 1 Ogden Island, Lake Wawasee, where Marjorie Breese, 82, of 322 Hyde Park Ct., Hamilton, Ohio, had suffered an arthritic attack. Crewmen contacted Warner ambulance for transporting the patient to Indianapolis. Francis McLaughlin, 29, of r 1 box 872 Syracuse, became ill as he crossed the yard at his home 9:19 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, complaining of pain in his lower back area. Clarence Allen Clarence Allen, 54, 853 E. Market St., Nappanee, father of Finley Allen, Syracuse, died Wednesday, July 5, at 5:10 p.m. in the Elkhart Hospital. He has been in failing health for the past eight months. , Son of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Allen, and an eight year resident of Nappanee, he married the former Minnie Conley on August 1, 1941, in Salyersville. He was employed as a machinist at Weatherhead Co., Syracuse. Surviving are his .wife, Minnie; two sons, Finley of Syracuse, Clarence, Jr., of Walkerton; three daughters, IVfrs. Patricia Warrix and Mrs. April Huff of Stillwell and Mrs. Eula Fay Burgh of LaPorte; five brothers, Grover of Grovertown, Cleatis of Walkerton, Clifford and Warren of Koontz Lake, and William, Jr., of Hickory Hills, Ill.; seven sisters, Mildred Bays and Maizie Hiester of Walkerton, Margie Minix of South Bend, Eva Rice, Ruth Howard, Ruby Phillips and Madgie Whickar, all of Koontz Lake; and 11 grandchildren. Services were held Saturday in Rannells Funeral Home at Hamlet. Rev. Kinerd Robinson officiated. Burial took place at Salem Chapel cemetery, Salem Heights. Man killed in accident A Louisville, Ky., man was killed in an auto accident on CR 300E, 150 feet south of Bell Rohr Drive near Lake Tippecanoe at 10:25 p.m. July 11. Driving a 1978 Fiat, Lloyd A. Terrell, 36, 2302 Glenview Avenue, Louisville, Ky., was northbound on CR 300E at a speed faster than was posted when his car left the road after rounding a curve. The car traveled 152 feet and six inches before striking a light pole. Terrell died from a fractured neck, skull fracture and crushed chest. Investigating the accident were Roger Fellows and Thomas Kitch, from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, and Indiana State Police officer Mike Barnett.
Tim Stidham is injured in cycle-truck crash Tim Stidham, 20, r I Syracuse, was injured at 6:05 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, in a motorcycle-truck accident two miles south of Millersburg. Stidham was listed in fair condition last week in Elkhart Hospital where he was admitted with multiple fractures of the right arm suffered when he was thrown from his cycle onto the back of the truck, police said. Milford thefts investigated
Milford Town Marshal David Hobbs is investigating several thefts occuring in the area ever the past few weeks. On June 30, sometime between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., a jar containing S3O in assorted coins and cash was taken from the residence of . Arnufo Garza. Meadowview Addition. Entry was gained through an open window. On July 5, a tool box and assorted tools was stolen from the Dick Widup residence. Some of the tools taken included: four full sets of sockets, hammers and
