1 YEAR AGO, JULY 13.1977 Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Conrad have returned from their honeymoon trip to the Hawaiian Islands. The Syracuse-Wawasee Garden Club will hold a standard placement flower show on July 28 at the home of Mrs. Ralph Clingaman on Pickwick Road. Kenneth Strieby, Sue Gans, and Mindy Gilliland, all three Syracuse young people, are members of the Enchanted Hills Playhouse Company this summer. Strieby is musical director. Sue plays bass in pit orchestra for the fourth year, and Mindy serves as playhouse props mistress. 5 YEARS AGO, JULY 11,1973 Noble Blocker, Syracuse town, board member, submitted his resignation from the board on July 3, the day after the board dismissed VanHemert as building commissioner. Joseph C. Anderson of Syracuse has been promoted to associate engineer in Northern Indiana's Public Service Company’s Goshen district. Steve Hursey of Cromwell made a hole-in-one on the 15th hole at Wawasee Golf Club on July 8. using a nine-iroh on the 135th yard hole. Births: A daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Stuby, son to Mr. and Mrs. Larry Mast, and Jennifer Kay to Charles and Judy (Kern) Jones. 10 YEARS AGO, JULY 10,1968 David S. Blackwell is the new vocal and instrumemtal music teacher at Syracuse Junior High School. Lou E. Craig has been elected president of the Syracuse Rotary Club for the year. Two of the five principal interests in First Charter Financial Corporation have been sold to Carl R. Tuttle, 11, and Thomas M. Tuttle. The Tuttles are joined with Harold W. Wellman, William Udell ‘and Robert L. Jones, as principal investors. The corps is a bank holding corporation presently holding controlling interest in the State Bank of Syracuse, as well as other investments.
