Foyt in the Palace of Sports at North Webster following the parade Saturday afternoon. Foyt was racing in California on Saturday and was unable to be present for the event. It is hoped he may be able to make it to North Webster later in the summer, On the left is J. Brian Smith second in Tournament of Knights
The seventh annual Tournament of Knights contest proved to be a close and unusual one this year. A total of 16 young men competed Saturday in various sports events which included track, basketball, golf, tennis, baseball, and football. Teri Granger of Anderson, the first female to enter, dropped out before competition began. Brian Smith of Syracuse was first runner-up with a total of 75 points. This is the first year he has competed. Brian's sponsor, the Lakeland CB'ers, will receive SIOO. Jeff Hossler of Goshen won the title of Sir Lancelot du Lac with 83 points. Jeff is a 1975 graduate of Goshen High School, and attends Tri-State University. He is the first person to win the title

Third, fourth, and fifth place winners were neck to neck in competition. Steve Bradford of Warsaw was third with 68 points, Cris Brandenburg of North Manchester came in fourth with 66 points, and. also of North Manchester, Dan Hoffman was the fifth place winner with 65 points. Each of their sponsors will receive SIOO. The 1977 champion Mike Young, a graduate of Central Noble High School and a member of the NCAA finalist Arkansas basketball team, did not attempt to defend his title.

First place winners in the 18hole group were Dot Stiver and Esther Brewster. Second were Rose Mathew and Joan Stoelting, and tied for third place were Jane Musser and Marge Newcomer, and Gloria Stoffel and Janet Hays. Winners in the nine-hole group were Rosemary Lantz and Billie Gans; second. Marge Yoder and Dorothy Stahley; four-way tie on putts, Julie Rogers, Inez Beiswanger, Bonnie Newman and Pearl Miller. ATSOUTHSHORE Play of the day for the nine hole group was "Low gross, low net, low putts." Jinny DeWitt and Jan Maher won the low gross while Karol Clark and Doris Paulus were winners in low net. Betty Cornell won low putts. The nine hole ladies group will meet on Wednesday, July 5, instead of Tuesday at 8:45 am. "The Most” was play for the day of the 18 hole group. Winning the first four places were; Coreen Fuller. Pony League at Milford Milford lost to Syracuse, 11-7, last Thursday. It was a close game until the sixth, when the Milford pitchers gave up seven runs on walks. Dickenhoof had two hits and Cripe, a double, with Deter a single for Syracuse. Eric Beer and Rick Pena had extra base hits for Milford. Kevin Smith was the winning pitcher. Milford traveled to North Webster Tuesday and defeated Webster 13-5, Milford jumped out early in the game with five runs and extra base hits by Pat Speicher. Mark Greenwood and Brian Goshert Jay and Jerry Auer both had two-R.8.1.s with Greenwood's five. Winning pitcher was Rick Pena and Ross Dahlstrom in relief. Milford hosted Fairfield BTeam Thursday with Milford winning 21-8. Fairfield led after first inning, 7-0, then Milford started to hit the Falcons in the second. Jerry Auer, Jeff Richards and Brad LeCount pounted for three hits each. Paul Siefried and Vince Price had two hits each and Dick Doll, Eric Beer, and Brian Goshert with one.
