Hammersley gives report for May

The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s report has been released for the month of May by County Sheriff John Hammersley. It shows the county vehicles were driven 28,090 miles during the month. A total of 409 complaints were answered with an addtional 14 complaints being handled by off duty officers. The officers served 242 papers and made 91 trafficarrests. No fatal accidents occurred in the county during the month. The total accidents are listed at 63 with 90 cars being involved and 18 persons being injured. Estimated damages were set at $155,608 with property damage at $162,928. Police made 14 arrests following accidents. Four deer were killed. The report shows 32 of the accidents took place in day light hours. 28 at night and three at dusk or dawn. The jail report shows 87 persons were booked by county officers. An additional 50 were booked by city officers and five by the state police for a total of 142 persons. Os the 142 total, 26 were juvenile boys, seven were juvenile girls. 103 were adult men and six were adult women. During May 21 burglaries were investigated, 30 thefts and 18 acts of vandalism. Two battery cases were investigated as were two unattended deaths. two trespasses, two forgeries and two child molests. No suicides were reported to the sheriff’s office

They will visit Niagara Falls and other interesting places before returning. Dr. Willard Price is expected home Saturday from a 19-day Masonic tour of Canada and Alaska.
