Stacy Wall top student at Milford Junior High

Stacy Wall, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Brian Wall of Dewart Lake, won top honors last week during Milford Junior High School’s awards program. Stacy received Parents Organization’s trophy for being the outstanding student of the year. She also received a placque in recognition of her high scholastic ability, the home economics achievement r award and a reading achievement award for superior 9.9 ability. Sqyder. was graduated Monday, from Indiana University with the degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery. On Tuesday he went to Cincinnati, Ohio, where he was sworn into active service in the United States Navy as Lieutenant (j.g.). He will leave June 21 for the Marine Base at Camp Pendleton, Calif., where he has been ordered to report on June 28. He will be in the Navy Dental Clinic. She earned a bachelor of arts degree in home economics. Formerly of Syracuse, Kathy is the daughter of Mrs. Donald (Charlotte) Hayden of Syracuse. She now resides in Homosassa, Fla. Appoint attorney in child molesting case Kosciusko County Judge Robert Burner has appointed Richard Sand as a defense attorney for William Lee Kirby, 22, of 312 South Detroit Street, Warsaw. The Warsaw man is being held on SIO,OOO bond at the county jail following his arrest in connection with the assault on May 20 of a four-year-old Milford girl. Kirby was charged with two counts of child molesting May 22, after initially being arrested on a battery charge on May 21. According to a statement by the child’s mother, Kirby stayed with the youth and her brother while the mother took the babysitter home. Upon her return, she learned of the incident and notified law enforcement authorities. *IOO in damages in week end fires Syracuse firemen responded to two fires over the week end, one causing SIOO damages. A fire at the Frog Tavern, CR 530E and Bowser Road in Syracuse, at 8:29 a.m. June 2, was caused by a short in the wiring. The fire was extinguished by a fire extinguisher. Damage to the tavern, owned by Bill Snyder and Wayne VanCuren, was SIOO. Burning trash in a trash barrel was the cause of a grass fire at 1:01 p.m. June 5, at the residence of Darrell Campbell, one-half mile west of Crazy Corners. No damage was estimated.

LaPorte several days ago to visit her sister, Mrs. F.O. Keeler, but was called home on Friday to attend the funeral of a near relative. Mrs. Keeler accompanied her. Mr. and Mrs. William Smith who live northeast of Milford attended the commencement at Ashland College the 6th of June, to witness the graduation of their daughter, Miss Mae Smith. Judge Powell is president of the International School of Law in Washington, D.C. Milligan is a four-year coeducational liberal arts college located midway between Elizabethton and Johnson City, Tenn., and is affiliated with the Christian Churches and Churches of Christ. The 1977-78 enrollment was 786.

Area initiates at Ball State Five Kosciusko County freshmen were among the 358 initiates to Alpha Lambda, freshman honorary at Ball State University, during campus ceremonies recently, and Congressman Philip Sharp was the guest speaker.
