board, reports no further progress has been made in the negotiations. ’ The teachers have requested a 14.1 per cent salary increase. The school board offered a proposal which included a SIOO raise per teacher in addition to the five per cent increase already budgeted. The proposal was rejected by the Lakeland Community Educators Association (LCEA). The LCEA requested salary negotiations be reopened after more money was appropriated by state legislators for the cor-
poration than was available in 1976. A two-year contract was ratified last year providing a five per cent increase in salary schedules. The contract contained a provision for salary negotiations to be reopened if more money was appropriated. Besides Lantz, negotiators representing the school board include Donn Kesler, Wawasee High School assistant principal; and Wendell Bryant, North Webster Junior High School principal. For the LCEA, negotiators are Elton Powers, North Webster Junior High social studies teacher, chairman; Paul Rush, North Webster Junior High mathematics teacher; and Lera Reinholt, fourth grade teacher at Syracuse Elementary School. Another meeting with the mediator and negotiators has been scheduled for Thursday, June 8. Howart will meet with a representative of the school board at 3 p.m. and with a representative of the LCEA 0 at 4 p.m.
